A good morning for reading suggestions to help process fury. Because I wrote it, I’ll start with my book, Good and Mad, about the history & political power of women’s anger, now in paperback (& on sale in hardcover). BUT WAIT THERE’S LOTS MORE: amazon.com/Good-Mad-Revoluti…

Well this is even more vile than I imagined it would be when it popped up in my feed:
Replying to @aobrien2010
Shocking he stooped so low.

The targeting of journalists in the West Bank and Gaza has been consistent and explicit. Visible markings don't matter if the point is to suppress information and sunlight. Wishing @Heidiphotos a full recovery, and hope this sparks some reflection among American media. We have been too silent as Palestinian journalists in particular faced similar violence or were killed.

This video captures settlers beating Heidi. They clubbed her, kicked her. Pulled her up off the ground to beat her more. Robbed her of all her equipment. If she didn’t have a helmet—and if she was Palestinian—she could be dead.

sadly the ads are very effective. as an oregonian i can say that under no circumstances will i be voting for troy jackson this november
Susan Collins’ allies ran ads against me in Portland, Oregon. Should’ve asked Navatek. They knew exactly where to send the money.

Susan Collins team was eager to have debates early and often on the theory (hope?) that they would expose a gravitas gap between the candidates. But instead the debates have underscored Collins's weaknesses and Jackson has easily cleared the gravitas bar. #MEpolitics

One of the most striking examples of this was when Troy said that she had profited off of the Iran War. Collins was so insulted that he said that she demanded an apology. But it's public record that she holds hundreds of thousands of dollars in defense contractor stocks.
One of the dynamics of the Maine senate debates is how deftly Jackson is baiting Collins to go headfirst into affronted victimhood mode. Her incredibly thin skin is something I wrote about in my profile of her in 2020: nymag.com/article/2020/02/th…

This dude is really hitting his stride in this campaign. He stepped into a tough situation and had a lot of different people pulling him in a lot of directions. But when he decided to shrug that off to be himself that's when things got much better. xitter.cf/cspan/status/210822237…

Senator Collins is like an arsonist who helped set the fire and now she wants credit for bringing a cup of water to put it out.

Let's try this: Can anyone name a single, discrete claim made by @propublica in its bombshell report that Susan Collins or her team have disputed? Not hand-waiving, blanket denials or straw man nonsense. I mean an actual, specific point of dispute. Anything? #MEpolitics

Pro Publica’s bombshell report is as detailed a story about government corruption as you’re going to get. And Susan Collins is right in the middle of it.

Guillermo del Toro: “Be very angry about how the world is being fucked, how your craft is being pulled away from you, how people are trying to move you away from the arts and tell you they’re not important. Be angry that things are being controlled by socially barely functional people that have a lot of money. Be angry about something. Be enraged about something” (Video: anakinspadawan / TikTok)

.@pressherald does the unthinkable: Talks to an expert to debunk Susan Collins nonsense and provides context needed to assess the credibility of her expressions of dismay. Should be the approach -- accurate info over spin and he said/she said -- in every #MEpolitics article.

I love the optimism about Dems winning in November - I share it! And: I'm a tiny bit nervous that winning will free folks of the urgency to fix deeper structural problems in our party that will fuck us in the long-haul if we don't grapple with them.

We really need to have this conversation; silly me thought everyone had learned after analytics convinced Robby Mook that Hillary didn’t need to visit Wisconsin in 2016… ☮️
Big day for Maine political news. My story about what's been going on with Troy Jackson's campaign, where fight between establishment & grassroots, so public around Platner, has moved inside the campaign, creating confusion & anger amongst supporters: nymag.com/intelligencer/arti…

I absolutely agree with this — as @_ericblanc notes, it’s millennial Democrats at the state and local levels who are leading the way.
I've got a piece in @nytimes today about how collective joy — participatory, youthful, anti-corporate — can defeat Trumpism and transform America
