The next time someone tells you homelessness is caused by addiction, mental illness, laziness, poor choices, or generous social services, show them this.
Homelessness is a housing problem. Not ONLY a housing problem, but ALWAYS a housing problem.
We can address addiction, mental illness, and poverty, but if people still can't afford a place to call home, we haven't solved homelessness.
You cannot end homelessness without housing, it's that simple.

Spend an ER shift with me. Or MSF mission with me in Congo. Afterwards, your mind goes upstream.
To be factual, ER docs are a vocal bunch. We see the best and the worst of everything. We have a lot to say with good reason.
As for the machine, yup. I got one. Great kid, amazing wife. I have a fire in me (like you) for a better city, province, nation and world.
So yes I do radio, newspaper, Twitter and full time ER. I walk the dog a lot, listening to medical CME and commentators. At the gym I listen to medicine only.
I had wicked training, wicked teachers and always fire in the maw.
You and I disagree on policy up and down but we're engaged in something more than our own family or our own tribe.
Let's disagree Ben and maybe agree time to time - and desire a better nation.
I know that's what your family stands by and that's why I respect your family's contribution to the nation.
