The Bruins delivered a beatdown at 5-on-5 play tonight. They had a 30-8 edge in scoring chances, and a 18-4 edge in high-danger chances.
Marco Sturm: “It was just a weird game. Lot of ups and downs, but 5-on-5 I thought it was actually pretty good.” Bruins didn't allow a 5-on-5 goal in a 6-4 win.

Fitting on the day Merkulov gets waived by Colorado that Hagens, Minten, and Khusnutdinov all score. It was NEVER that the #NHLBruins were against giving youth chances. It was simply about the kids being good enough and earning their roles. Bruins look set to win their 7th in 8 games.

Well, Will Smith just scored. So let’s hold the guaranteed win for the moment.

James Hagens is incredible. Does whatever it takes to win. Lead ALL NHL forwards in blocked shots after Thursday’s win. Go-ahead goal now with just over 10 to go. The Long Island Kid is unbelievable.

I am not in Boston this morning, but I can confirm that Igor Chernyshov returned to San Jose for more evaluation of his upper-body injury. #SJSharks

From what I was told, #Isles could’ve been a third-party broker in a Hellebuyck trade, depending on his destination, as @TheFourthPeriod said. Ultimately, NJD got him without one. WPG has been scouting NYI.
David Pagnotta: Re Connor Hellebuyck trade/Devils: I think Carolina was having conversations last night, I think Utah as well; some other teams...whether it was the Islanders...other clubs...speculation as to whether this would...evolve into a 3-way trade - The Sheet (10/23) ____ NHLRR: The Islanders would presumably only have been involved as some kind of facilitator in a 3-way, as had been speculated in the leadup to the official trade announcement

I wonder if the #Isles have looked at Nino Niederreiter as a potential salary-offset piece if they get involved in a Hellebuyck trade. Niederreiter is in the final year of his three-year deal carrying a $4 million AAV.
Will see where Hellebuyck goes. I wonder if #Isles are somehow involved in brokering the deal between #GoJetsGo and whatever team he lands with. WPG scouts have been at last two NYI home games.

Schaefer continues to put his name alongside NHL legends. With his goal against the Kings, the 19-year-old #Isles defenseman tied Bobby Orr for the second-most goals by a teenage defenseman in NHL history. @TheHockeyNews thehockeynews.com/nhl/new-yo…

6-0 #NHLBruins It’s a two-goal, four-point night for David Pastrnak. Brunet gets an assist, as McAvoy collects his third assist of the night.

#NHLBruins to the PP after Kastelic gets tripped into the post with 7:55 to go. PP2 kicks it off, as Sturm looks to get them some reps.
