An improved version of #WaPOR, @FAO's water monitoring tool, was launched today at the 2nd Rome Water Dialogue.
The Open-access system uses geospatial data to track actual crop water consumption down to the field level.

Very true, but... You still need satellites & happily @CopernicusEU / @ESA_EO provide these. @NLSpaceOffice
