"True democracy is a safety valve to let a youthful populace register their desire for change. The alternative is that they gravitate toward violence or even terrorism. Biya has found a way to stay on, but ... demographics mean that change is inevitable." washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

The situation in Cameroon is set to seriously escalate in the coming days. Either the government will start to crumble or repression will rapidly worsen. De-escalation seems far away.

I honestly can't wrap my head around this news. I spoke to Muhammed just two weeks ago. He was so kind, and so sure everything would be alright in the end. He had so much faith El Fasher would survive.
Muhammad Khamis Duwda the spokesperson for the displaced population of Zamzam camp was today murdered by RSF militiamen at his home in Al Fashir.

Most of the rest of the country acted like the anglophone crisis was not their problem. Now the same crisis has been used to keep the regime in place. It turns out it was all our problem.

Mass slaughter in Sudan, Jihadists are taking over the Sahel, Ethiopia on the brink of war, Mogadishu slowly getting surrounded, major uprising in Cameroon Europe continues to ignore the situation across Africa & can expect a refugee crisis that far exceeds 2015/16 because of it

Sen. Paul is right. These are murders.
Rand Paul on Trump's strikes on boats: "I would call them extrajudicial killings. This is akin to what China does, what Iran does with drug dealers -- they summarily execute people without presenting evidence to the public. So it's wrong."

So October 27 Cameroon’s election results will be formally announced. If I thought it would be an honest announcement I’d stay up all night - but based on history I’m not optimistic. God grant that I’m wrong and peace and justice will reign in that great nation.

Donc please stop lying to us. We aren’t that stupid. #BringBackOurInternet

Breaking News: US Congressman Jonathan Jackson has expressed concern about the ongoing political challenges in Cameroon and has called on political actors to exercise restraint, respect due process, and honor the will of the people. In a release addressed to the Foreign Affairs Committee on Africa on Tuesday, Jackson commended the people of Cameroon for their continued commitment to democracy, as demonstrated by their participation in the October 12 presidential election. “The United States' longstanding partnership [with Cameroon] is rooted in shared values, including respect for democratic governance, the rule of law, and human rights," he said. However, he stated he was concerned by reports indicating limited political freedom, restrictions on civil society and the media, voter disenfranchisement in conflict-affected regions, and other irregularities that could undermine confidence in the electoral process. “I urge the electoral commission, the judiciary, and the constitutional council to ensure full transparency and accountability in accordance with Cameroon's electoral code and to allow for the prompt and credible publication of results that reflect the will of the Cameroonian people,” he said. Jackson emphasized that violence or intimidation has no place in the democratic process. “I reaffirm my commitment to work with the Government of Cameroon, civil society, the African Union, and international partners to prevent conflict, support peaceful post-election dialogue, strengthen democratic institutions, promote good governance, and advance peace, stability, and respect for human rights for all Cameroonians.” His statement comes as Issa Tchiroma Bakary has claimed victory in the October 12 presidential election. #IssaTchiromaBakary #CameroonDecides #Election2025 #UnityForChange #CameroonProtests #VoiceOfThePeople #MMINews #StandTogether

Re Cameroon elections - rumors are that certain Biya Ministers are privately congratulating Issa Tchiroma for his victory. They may be covering all bets. It would be significant if they did so publicly as that would be a political tsunami!

this month, i needed to spend about 2 million cfa for certain purchases online and they could not go through. i was baffled cause i’ve never had problems with online payments with my debit card. my bank keeps denying the transactions. i contact them and apparently, i had to submit an application and pay 15k so that my spending limit is increased from 1m to 2m. for a time span of 7 days for me to make the online purchases. courtesy of beac regulations with payments above 1m for any purchase out of the country. i don’t know what the 15k is being used for? all i got from my account manager is that they have to follow the beac regulations. meaning that when i want to pay again for anything above that initial threshold, i need to submit another application, pay a fee, and i am given a validity period. i’ve done all the above and the fvcking transaction still isn’t going through. arrgghhh mon beau pays. 💪🏽.
