AI has caused me to work more than ever because now there is no technological barrier between my vision and what's possible in legal work, firm operations, marketing, etc.

Today’s social media: prominent members of Congress and commentators get the holding wrong in Chatrie but “lord voldermalort” gets it exactly correct.

The way I would put it is most judges will render a decision they think is unjust only if the lawyer convinces them they have no choice under the law, and will render a decision they think is just unless the lawyer convinces them that they can't.

Before becoming a judge I had an appellate practice and this was the secret: There are an abundance of state court criminal appeals but you have to convince real people to hire and pay you, which involves marketing and operating a law firm.
Raffi, as always, is the man here. Everything he says. Wanted to emphasize one thing, which applies to appellate lawyers and others: You need to give some consideration early in your career to the business of law. Where will you get work? How will you get it? What will it pay?

If you (1) want to do appellate work and (2) have the skills or can learn the skills to operate a business then you're all set. Much easier to break into appellate work this way than work on complex commercial appeals at a medium or big law firm.

Because we can sit and think and work without interruption from calls and emails just like God intended when he created the workplace.
Lawyers love national holidays when businesses and courthouses are closed, because they can wear casual clothes to the office.

This country never recovered from losing Michael Crichton. We used to have novels about shooting cyborg gorillas in the face with machine guns and when you got done reading it you knew how an MRI machine worked

Years ago on the day before Christmas Eve, I was sitting by the fire at my in-laws' house editing a brief that was due at midnight. I did not file something quoting the Grinch, but in my heart I was feeling it.
In their opposition to expedited review in the DC Circuit, Trump's attorneys accuse Jack Smith of secretly being The Grinch.

"Ambulance chasers" are better lawyers than most attorneys who "attended the finest law schools" so on and so forth. Realizing that would go a long way to fixing this problem.

For any redirect, recross, or rebuttal, lawyers are required to say "just briefly" or "only a few questions" and then drag on for like 25 minutes incl repeating themselves twice, it's a rule that's tested on the MPRE.
“I will be very brief” - one of the most offensively misleading things a lawyer can say in court.
