It's not hard to see where athletic departments have been spending all this time.
The question is why none of the proposed solutions addresses any of those issues and only the (new) athlete compensation.

In 2011, Southern Miss lost a logo battle in court to Iowa. Iowa said our eagle head was too similar to their hawkeye head. I still can’t believe we lost, so I’ll bring it up again. Are the two logos below the same or different?

Hey athletes, wanna know what would have prevented something like this from ever happening?
A CBA!
And no, stumping for the PCSA isnt going to help you.
The heatstroke suffered by ASU hockey player Matthew Mayich during a military-style workout is already a serious health matter.
It could soon give rise to a legal dispute centered on college athlete safety and the acceptable conditions for training:

After not being able to attend last year, I am planning to make it to the #SRLA Conference next February in Kansas City, MO. In addition to attending the conference, I am looking forward to visiting the Negro League Baseball Museum and several of the city's historic jazz clubs.

Who is enforcing this?
...oh.
✍️ The PCSA would make coaches finish a season before leaving for another job, "The Lane Kiffin Rule."
But it would be almost impossible to hire a high-level coach in the current calendar.
Says one bill supporter: “I don’t have a good answer."

I feel like we are well past that tipping point and that the NCAA has signaled it is committed to fighting every last case to the bitter end, results be damned.
Happy to be wrong though.

Really excited to see where in Atlanta College GameDay is going to be this week when Hawks face Ohio

holy shit -- turns out Jack Smith went to a Hawkeyes game in Maryland but Schmitt's team is so reckless they concocted a conspiracy theory that Smith was actually in Atlanta seeing a Hawks game and colluding with Fani Willis. Klobuchar points out to Schmitt, "you have your teams wrong."

Very confident in the ability of people who mix up the Atlanta Hawks with the Iowa Hawkeyes to save college sports

Senator Kennedy has a point. If the Protect College Sports Act becomes law, just remember: elected officials voted to limit compensation to American workers (including American workers of private employers).

I wanna see Saban and Sanders's Aflac disclosures in NIL Go. The salary cap will be too easy to get around, but the buyout cap would save millions. Of course the lack of a buyout cap is just the result of the lack of any institutional will in coach's contract negotiations.

Cory Booker's amendment implements restrictions on coaches that mirror the bill's athlete limitations, sources tell @YahooSports: (1) requiring them to sit a season for 2nd job move; (2) subjecting their NIL deals to NIL Go; (3) salary cap of $5M; (4) buyout cap of 1 year salary.

Saban on Gameday at 10:50a: “Protect College Sports! Thank you Trump for saving college sports!”
Saban at 11:50a: “If I were still coaching? I’d do whatever it takes to convince [MSU QB Kamario Taylor] to get in the Portal”
Yup, that about sums it up 👍

fun fact here
Since everyone is proposing amendments to the Protect College Sports Act, I have one. Which will actually rein in costs.

The US Department of Commerce touts on their website that sports law Professor Matthew Mitten (Marquette) supports the PCSA. What they don't tell you is the following full-time sports law professors, among others, seem to publicly oppose it (alphabetically):

There is no finding the House settlement cap complies with existing antitrust law (and it almost certainly doesn’t).
The court explicitly didn’t rule on that, as it was just approving a settlement agreement and not passing judgment on the legality of its terms.
