The bay's public transit will live to see another day. Voters in five Bay Area counties approved Prop RTM, a half-cent sales tax that would fund more than 20 transit agencies, including BART, Muni, and Caltrain. SF voters also gave an overwhelming thumbs up to Prop H to fund Muni for 15 years. Read more: sf.news/4eyLtHV

What, Dodger fans want to defer their Muni fare payment as well?
Buddy of mine in San Francisco boarding BART or whatever sent me this. Note the baseball cap and blue decor of this fare-dodger. So it's not enough to hate on Dodger fans up there. We're also criminals. 🤨

Moving SF - Because of the SFMTA's budget crisis, we're forced to cut 4% of Muni service this summer. These cuts are the last thing we want, but hard choices are needed to sustain the transportation services we provide. We want your feedback. Learn more⬇️ sfmta.com/blog/feb-4-hear-ab…

if everyone who takes muni switched to using Waymo this is what every street in sf would look like
For 20% of SF's public transit budget you could buy and run a fleet of 15,000 Waymos and let everyone ride for free. Thats enough to cover the entire ridership of SF's public bus system with much better service. Assumptions: -Conservative 12 year average life of the Waymo with zero value recouped at the end - $120k purchase price per Waymo -$8k/year/waymo in operating costs -Finance purchase with 12 year loan at SF municipal bond rate of 4.85% -$0 in fares!

If you want to play a fun game, ask people in the know to describe the fiscal state of Muni. You’ll get a sharp inhale. An “incredibly dire.” An “extremely concerning.” Maybe even a “clusterfuck” or two. sfstandard.com/2024/11/22/mu…

Based on Clipper data, riders have fully returned to transit, they are just taking fewer trips because of remote work. Unique clipper cards used (note the 2024 numbers now match 2019):
Good to see this 8-car ⁦@SFBART⁩ train pretty full on this 8:30 am yellow line. We need folks to get out of their cars and hop on transit again to relieve freeway blues and for the good of our fragile environment. ⁦@BevanDufty⁩

This is an appallingly ignorant, dangerous and vision-less view of the future. It ignores embodied carbon of building all these cars, the 25000 people killed or seriously injured on our roads every year, the social inequality this would embed...
Unlike cars, it's not yet clear what role public transport will play in decarbonisation. Our take: buses and trains probably won't make a big dent in climate targets, but we should be worried that passengers may miss out on the big savings EVs bring. tinyurl.com/2p4m2u89

The Oakland A’s were killed by greed. Do not allow the people responsible for this to spin it any other way. John Fisher did not have to move this team. Major League Baseball and its owners did not need to be complicit in it. This was a choice. A wrong one. History will sneer.
