Guys, we’re post-AGI.

LOL. WAY too early to judge a company that thinks and acts in decades.
Why did Berkshire take such a big, ill-advised position in Alphabet?

60 days with @Muse as my personal AI agent. 103 different jobs handed off. 48 of them now run on schedule — while I sleep. Meals planned. Groceries ordered. Flights booked. Spring Break scouted. Homework deadlines tracked. College planning underway. Two stores launched, 30 products live. And so much more. It’s not a chatbot. It’s staff. And it gets more valuable every day.

Huge for initial agent-to-agent comms
Your Muse just got its own email. Muse Mail is rolling out now. Tap Setup, tell Muse you are done, and it checks the mailbox is live. The inbox work is starting to run itself. Musecases 📨

It’s almost incomprehensible how wide the distance is between someone who’s working at the frontier with AI and basically everyone else right now. The crazy thing is these lines are not converging, but only growing farther apart. If the curve of AI progress had leveled off, it would certainly have given most people and companies time to catch up or implement their workflows in a standardized way. The technology would have neutralized competitive advantage because everyone would be using it the same way. But what’s happened is the opposite. The curve of AI progress is basically going vertical right now, which means if you had codified your processes 3-6 months ago you’re likely already behind again. Now imagine most companies that kicked into gear a year ago and thought that they were done. Even further behind now. I’ve never seen a technology in my life and career that improves at this rate, which consequently means you need to upgrade your expectations at a similar rate. Our brains weren’t wired for this, and our organizational change management processes certainly weren’t either. With any form of recursive self improvement, things just get wilder. It’s a time when you will need to be constantly reevaluating the things that didn’t work just a couple months ago to see if they now can be solved. AI native companies certainly have a strong advantage due to this right now, so now it comes down to can the bigger companies keep up. Wild times.

Buried the lede. Impressive!
Replying to @jack
this is big (but also really really small…small enough to run on your macbook). i’m extremely proud of the dessa team for pushing the frontier! ❤️

I was once Mayor. Thanks for sharing @dens
Foursquare was acquired last month. The outcome was disappointing. It's taken me a while to write this, but I think I'm finally done grieving it. Here are some thoughts on our final years, an effort to honor the team who helped build & maintain FSQ's legacy, and my attempt to finally get some closure. teendrama.substack.com/p/som…

AI companies should use the word “terminated” carefully.
We discovered a sophisticated recording device that was hidden inside one of our offices. We used our models to understand the device and where it had come from, identifying that a specific employee had planted it a few days earlier. We referred the matter to the FBI, and we’re grateful to the agents and prosecutors who moved quickly to make an arrest. The FBI’s investigation is ongoing and we will continue to support their work. At this time, we have no indications of this individual inappropriately accessing or exfiltrating model weights, source code, or customer data. The employee was terminated. We take protecting our technology, data, and people seriously, and as a matter of national importance. Our security program is designed to protect against a wide range of threat actors, from insider risks to cybercriminals to nation states, and this case is an example of how AI can help address these sophisticated security threats.

Hard to believe this response from @grok, which is my favorite conversational agent. (I have “Use Memory” on in Settings.)

Fair enough on the MD format, but on memory in general here is the response @grok

I was just asking to web search for current info prior to each response where it made sense, to ensure accuracy.

We’re already starting to see what kind of new jobs AI is creating. AI requires significant technical work and surrounding services to deploy into the economy. This means jobs for AI engineers that build applied AI products sold to (or within) enterprises, FDEs to deploy agents into companies, new services firms for deploying AI, and more. And even the published stats of new jobs undercount all the existing jobs that are transitioning to new areas of AI work in an enterprise. Many prior data, research, and software jobs large enterprises are also being repositioned for working with AI. Every bank, life sciences company, manufacturer, and even law firm is bringing on more technical talent -or repositioning existing roles- to help with agent deployment in their companies. It’s a lot easier to picture what AI can replace vs. what it creates until it starts happening. Now we’re seeing what this looks like.

Important interview
I appreciated the opportunity to speak with @ezraklein at length about the state of AI. I believe the world isn't awake to the dangers of this technology and the choices humanity has to make. AI will either be the greatest tool for opportunity and equality we've ever seen—or the cause of immense, unprecedented harm. Which way things go is up to us. b-gat.es/4AFZZqC

Other labs probably did the same thing but didn’t issue a press release or provide an anonymous source to plant the story FWIW
