Watch this.
Lubna Speitan, author of the Greens4Palestine motion “Zionism is racism”, spells out the central obscenity of our age – the grotesque inversion whereby the victims of ethnic cleansing, Apartheid and genocide must constantly fend off accusations from their tormentors that it is they who are the racists.
“We as Palestinians are being silenced and gaslit and vilified [as we] witness the annihilation, the cold-blooded murder of our families, of our people… our children burnt with phosphorus, having to endure amputations with no anaesthetic, having their limbs torn and shredded, their bodies burnt by phosphorus, being starved to death … And to have to sit here … and try to bury my feelings so I can eloquently and diplomatically shield my anger, my rage, my anguish that every Palestinian is feeling, is an insult.” /1

Bizarre that the ‘invasion’ has been going on for the 56 years of my life. You couldn’t call it successful could you? 🙄those at the top have been pushing this narrative forever plus gradually diminishing our education, so that finally we are stupid enough to believe it en masse

This is absolutely insane.
The UK seems to have been involved in the kidnapping of Maduro - and the story spiked by an MOD D-Notice.
The kidnapping was the most brazen act of criminality, and UK involvement would almost certainly have been given with Starmer's sign-off. A wretched, wreck of a PM. An unforgivable assault on international law.

Iain Dale completely loses it after a caller refuses to go along with the approved narrative on Russia.
The caller says most people simply don’t care about Russia, don’t see it as a threat, and just want lower energy bills.
“On the street, nobody agrees with your talking points.”
Dale asks: “You don’t think Russia is a threat to this country?”
“No. It’s not”, the caller replies. “The average person just wants their bills to come down.”
Dale then explodes: “Yeah but they don’t want bills to come down by appeasing a brutal Russian dictator who’s invaded the sovereign country of Ukraine and killed hundreds of thousands of people! What part of that do you not get!?”
The caller hits back: “What are you talking about? As if we’re some kind of beacon of humanity. Give me a break!”
You can shout at people all you like, Iain, but it doesn’t make you right. Plenty of people don’t support the Ukraine war, don’t believe Russia is an existential threat to Britain, and know there’s more to this than Putin just waking up one day and deciding to invade for fun.
They don’t buy the “Hitler” comparison and would happily buy cheaper oil if it meant improving the shocking living standards created by years of reckless government policy.
As the caller points out, we’re hardly saints either, not with the regimes we back and the things Britain has done itself.
Most people have seen through the nonsense.

This is really quite shocking from Shami Chakrabarti. "This foolish motion" is what the vast majority of Palestinians believe.
Perhaps she could explain to them how it is that she - miraculously - came to understand their own lived experience better than they do.
If you want to debate tactics and strategy, fine. But that's not what she's doing.
Coming from a member of a party that has materially assisted the wholesale slaughter of small children for the last 3 years it is frankly obscene.
Shami Chakrabarti condemns the Green Party’s Zionism is racism motion on #PoliticsLive
“It’s not even fair to student unions to call this student union politics”. She describes the motion as “wrong and highly inflammatory”

By the end of this Parliament, Labour will likely have approved:
1. Jackdaw
2. Rosebank
3. Third runway at Heathrow
These week cumulatively make it practically impossible for the UK to meet is Paris Agreement targets.
It will simultaneously likely have:
1. Cut the budget for national insulation/Warm Homes campaign to fund increased defence spending;
2. Slashed the UK's contribution to the UN's Green Climate Fund by 45%, reversing funding pledge made by Rishi Sunak (already happened).
We just had a summer of extreme heat and wildfires; next year is likely to be worse.
This is a war on the environment, waged because Labour simply refuses to tax and redistribute wealth, and is wedded to a totally broken and outdated concept of national rather than human security.
Madness.
NEW: Government is expected to approve the Jackdaw gas field tomorrow, per three sources
Announcement is expected early in the morning

Went on BBC Politics Live to discuss why Zionism is a racist ideology. The anchor and all three panelists looked like they were about to cry at the end. Very weird behaviour.

I don't seem to remember a Parliamentary debate about the UK becoming an active participant in a hot war... or whether we should be supporting a horrific dictatorship that is responsible for gross human rights abuses and war crimes... because from here, it certainly looks like were being embroiled in an escalating regional war with a genocidal Israel and insane Trump in the driving seat, each with their own interests that conflict with ours.
EXCLUSIVE: The UK’s Royal Air Force will fly defensive missions to protect Saudi Arabia from escalating Houthi attacks, according to British officials familiar with the matter
RAF Typhoon fighter jets will help defend Saudi cities and infrastructure against aerial attacks from the Iran-backed militant group, the people said. Andy Burnham has signed off on the decision
Britain will also provide an Atlas A400M transport aircraft with heavy lift capability to move kit around Saudi, as well as military advisers
The decision marks an extension of UK support for Saudi in the wake of Houthi attacks which have killed more than a dozen people in Riyadh. There have been multiple attacks on the kingdom in recent days

We are hearing increasing calls to increase military spending from European ruling elites like Jacob Rees Mogg because they have lost their legitimacy and sacrificed their nations' economies for conflicts with Russia and Iran
They must transition to a state of war and permanent emergency to preserve their rule, stripping away rights and wealth from the public while bombarding their populations with hysterical propaganda about Putin as the present day Hitler
If European leaders were serious about confronting evil or opposing a Holocaust, they would have stood up to Israel, not cheered it on as it burned Gaza to the ground
On Piers Morgan Uncensored, The Grayzone's Max Blumenthal slammed Jacob Rees-Mogg's call for a major hike in British military spending and slashing "stupid welfare":
"When this war economy starts, and when the war actually starts, and they start tempting nuclear annihilation, it's going to be the poor and working class children who go and fight for Latvia and Estonia against Putin.
It's not going to be the children of the wealthy elite. And that's a sacrifice that Jacob is willing to make."

It seems clear that the decision has already been made within the bowels of the British establishment that direct conflict with Russia will take place. Now it's about frightening the public into supporting the idea, or at the very least accepting it as inevitable.
This is the march to WWI redux, and as then so now, much of what passes for the left in Britain will go along to get along to become willing participants in the patriot game.
And such is the parlous state of life for our young working class men on our housing estates and schemes -- looking out at a future of no future at all -- the generals, the arms manufacturers, and the Eton wankers will have no shortage of willing pawns in their game.
Lambs to the slaughter.
They need this war. They need it in order to maintain control over a system that has create far more problems than it could ever solve. Eduardo Galeano said it best: 'The marketplace of fear requires a steady supply of monsters.'
Putin's Russia is the monster being used to scare us now, like children being red a bedtime story. Back then our parents would tell us that if we were bad, the bogeyman will come. Now our supposed leaders are telling us that it's the Russians who will come, unless we obey.
Russia is the enemy 'without' being used to try maintain control 'within'. It's not Putin or Russia they truly fear, it is us. They can feel the winds of discord blowing in their faces, and now it's about turning that discord into war fever.
They lied to us about Yugoslavia. They lied to us about Iraq. They lied to us about Libya. They lied to us about Syria. They are lying to us now about Russia.
Siegfried Sassoon reminds us that war is 'The hell where youth and laughter go.'
The fight of our lives is upon us to prevent them sending the youth of our time into the same hell as the youth of Sassoon's time was sent.
Never again.

You can be as insulting (and tacky in your search for clicksn and engagement) as you want, but under Polanski the Greens won 587 local council seats five months ago, took over long-time Labour-dominated Councils, and helped catalyse Starmer's resignation two years after he won a landslide election.
That has forced the whole Burnham operation rhetorically left and pushed the government to take (still plainly insufficient) steps to bring in sanctions on Israeli settlements.
Now Burnham is trying to collapse local governments in response to a Green Party motion, which undermines his own rhetoric on devolution and undercuts his commitment to electoral reform and cooperative government.
Burnham is taking the risk of causing serious upheaval, backlash and turmoil in response to a Green Party MOTION. A motion! That's genuinely insane - and illustration of the Green's power and influence, not the obverse.
Seems pretty serious to me.
