Fifty years ago, Japan became the first non-regional member of @the_IDB. Today, the country is one of our most important long-term partners.
We are starting a new chapter: together with Minister of Finance @satsukikatayama we opened the Japan-LAC Business Forum 2026 in Tokyo.
Over two days, the Forum brings together more than 1000 registered participants and more than 400 companies from 24 countries to strengthen business, investment and trade between Japan and Latin America and the Caribbean, including in critical minerals, energy, digital transformation, agribusiness and the silver economy. More than 600 business matchmaking sessions will explore new partnerships and investment opportunities.
Marking this 50th anniversary we announced a historic cooperation package that expands resources from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to generate approximately $14 billion in financing to the region; establishes a $30 million non-reimbursable Japan Resilience Initiative for critical minerals and other areas; creates a new risk-transfer instrument using NEXI loan insurance for IDB loans; renews the agreement with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) to identify co-financing opportunities; and adds two new agreements on health and care and infrastructure.

そして今日、私たちは次の50年に向けた新たな一歩を踏み出します。片山さつき財務大臣とともに、東京で「日本―中南米・カリブ地域ビジネスフォーラム (Japan-LAC Business Forum) 2026」を開幕しました。
2日間の会期には、24か国から400社を超える企業、1,000人以上が参加登録しています。重要鉱物、エネルギー、デジタルトランスフォーメーション、アグリビジネス、シルバーエコノミーといった分野で、日本と中南米・カリブ地域のビジネス、投資、貿易を一段と強化することが狙いです。600件を超えるビジネスマッチングも予定しており、新たなパートナーシップと投資機会を掘り起こします。
50周年を記念し、歴史的な協力パッケージを発表しました。国際協力機構（JICA）の資金を拡大し、地域向けに約140億ドルの資金供給を生み出します。重要鉱物などを対象とする3,000万ドルの無償資金による「Japan Resilience Initiative（日本レジリエンス・イニシアティブ）」も立ち上げます。
さらに、日本貿易保険（NEXI）の融資保険を活用したIDB融資向けの新たなリスク移転手法を導入するほか、国際協力銀行（JBIC）との協定を更新し、協調融資案件の発掘を進めます。保健・ケアとインフラに関する2つの新たな協定も加わります。

dozens of Michelin-star restaurants are already lining up to buy the fish
here's how it works:
> the problem is when a fish gets caught, it usually just suffocates on the boat
> that stress floods the meat with hormones and lactic acid, which hurts the flavor and texture
> the old Japanese fix for this was spiking the fish through the brain right after the catch, which stops all that
> but doing it by hand is impractical for most American fishing crews
> so Shinkei built a fridge-sized robot that sits right on the boat's deck
> the crew feeds in a fish and AI identifies the exact species, so it knows exactly where the brain and gills are
> the robot then drives the spike through the brain and cuts near the gills in about 7 seconds
> the fish goes into an ice slurry so the blood drains out
> so the fish doesn't sit there stressing out, and that tasty flavor and texture is preserved

パフィンは丸みを帯びた愛らしい体型に対して翼が短いため、一見すると不器用そうに見えるが、実際には時速数十キロメートルもの高速で大空を飛び、細かく羽ばたきながら急な方向転換や崖の巣穴への正確な着陸をこなす高い飛行能力を持っている
映像では、海風が強く吹き抜ける険しい崖すれすれの空間を、体を傾けながら正確にコントロールし、巣穴のある岩壁へと寸分の狂いもなく滑り込んでいく高度な飛行技術が確認でき、空中での急旋回やスピードの緩急をつける姿は、まさに自然界が生んだ卓越したパイロットそのものである

新宿駅8:30に間に合う列車たち。
通勤客を乗せた列車が都心に吸い込まれる様子が分かる。
それにしても小田急は速いし、JRの湘南新宿ラインも長距離通勤に欠かせない。
新宿18時発、夕方の列車をアニメーションにしてみた。
小田急と京王・JRの競争が面白いし、列車の軌跡が「路線図」を描く様子も見応えがある。
19時半を過ぎても郊外に線路が伸びていくあたり、首都圏は広い･･･。(･ㅅ･)
