This #IWD we #GiveToGain Share your knowledge, call out stereotypes, challenge discrimination, and celebrate women's success. We all give to gain. But ensure that gain is not for yourself, and always to help shape the right future for the future women in our industry... 💙

Happy International Women's Day! 🎊 Women currently make up around 25% of our workforce at TransPennine Express, and we are committed to changing that. We’re proud to celebrate the incredible women already shaping TPE, and reaffirming that rail is a place where women belong, can thrive, and can build long‑term careers. If you can see it, you can be it. We are also seeing change take shape through our future talent pipelines – including a graduate intake where three out of four of our roles were filled by women. Since 2019 we have offered development programmes aimed at women working for the company – which have had huge success. We’re also grateful for the allyship shown by colleagues and leaders across our business, standing alongside the women they work with every day. Together, we’re celebrating how far we’ve come, and committing to where we want to go next. We're encouraging our colleagues to share their own stories for International Women's Day - don't forget to tag us! #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2026 #GiveToGain #WomenAtTPE #IfYouCanSeeItYouCanBeIt

Today we're paying homage to Karen Harrison, the first woman in Britain to be appointed as a train driver - opening doors for future generations of women in transportation. If you have a railway story you would like to share, email us at [email protected] #Hornby #Womensday

International Women’s Day! To all women across the world, may you continue to inspire, change the trend, unapologetically be yourself always and never be afraid to aim for the stars. A few pics across my driving career from a trainee, my fab DI, getting my key, my 1st train

Happy #InternationalWomensDay from Hull Trains! We're celebrating the women who keep Hull Trains moving. We are really proud to have a 53% female workforce, with an impressive 30% of our drivers being women - far exceeding the industry average. #IWD2026

International Women's Day offers a salutary reminder that the first named railway employee was a woman. A 1645 entry from the burial registers of Whickham, a village in North East England and the former site of the Whickham Waggonway, shows the existence of a widow gatekeeper. Despite the intervening centuries, it wasn't until 1979 when Karen Harrison became one of the first female train drivers. Considerable strides have been made since then, with women now representing more than 16% of the industry's workforce, but still not enough. There are some wonderful charities and networks campaigning for change including Women in Rail, Routes into Rail and Women in Transport. Find out more about their work here railway200.co.uk/diversity-a… Read the full blog here railway200.co.uk/internation…

Today we gather at Selby Abbey to remember the rail crash at Great Heck, exactly 25 years ago. 10 people died in the tragedy and more than 80 were injured when a GNER train struck a Land Rover that had ended up on the track. The passenger train then hit an oncoming freight train.

Today would have been the birthday of Karen Harrison. Karen was one of Britain’s first woman train drivers, and a proud union activist. Because she refused to take “no” for an answer, so many of us now get to say “yes” to incredible railway careers today. #KarenHarrison

🍂 Autumn can pose real challenges for drivers with braking and accelerating due to leaf fall, so we’re making some very minor changes to the timings of a small number of services to ensure reliability. The majority of services are unaffected but check before you travel.

I'm not really feeling my usual perky self this week... Social media fuels the need to be perfect, and in reality I feel horrendous! I can't be bothered with my usual make up or fake lashes, and actually don't think I brushed my hair this morning! But I'm learning that it's ok... It's ok to feel off, or sad, or to be going through things, or even just to be tired or not yourself. As we approach the time of year where everyone will be looking at their achievements this year... It's ok if all you did today was get out of bed, hell it's ok if you didn't! If you don't reach your goals, or your timeline is different to someone else's, that's all ok. Be kinder to yourself 💖
