i spent quite a long time debating whether to post this because i've always thought publicly sharing long, slightly soppy posts is kinda cringe
BUT i do think given what david + jenni have achieved, it's actually quite important that people know a little more about what david is like as a person
it slightly goes without saying, but david is the most extraordinary entrepreneur i've ever met. i knew him on X before i knew him irl, and i remember wondering whether he'd be as articulate + interesting a thinker in-person as he is online. i also remember being stunned by the fact that his real-life thinking absolutely mogs his X posts. he's genuinely the most extraordinary lateral thinker and problem solver i've ever come across
perhaps the more interesting element is that those founder qualities actually sit pretty low on the list of things that come to mind about david
personally, he has been the most immense, generous mentor to me. i'm an infinitely better founder for the time he's given me, the stories he's told me, and the support he's given me
he's also a wonderful friend. i moved to korea having never been to asia and knowing absolutely no one. he put huge thought and effort into helping me settle, helping me grow, and helping me enjoy my time. he's also *ridiculously* generous - he only finally let me pay for dinner the night after this acquisition happened!
but more broadly than that - almost every person that came into contact with david + jenni ended up with a meaningfully positive impact on their life because of it - something david is hugely driven by. i've never seen a founder so thoughtful, genuinely selfless, or so genuinely motivated by wanting the other people in his life to succeed
he's made enormous, enormous personal sacrifice again and again and again to protect + benefit those around him. and he's genuinely fuelled by it, it's the furthest thing away from performative imaginable. it's why i'm writing this! because if i didn't, he certainly wouldn't!
he is the absolute embodiment of everything that's virtuous in startups - grit, hard work, talent - while also being the absolute embodiment of a truly kind, generous person
THE example of how you can win extraordinarily while preserving your values and winning for everyone around you
and, david, it's a pretty crazy testament to you + your generosity that your remarkable talent and achievement ranks so low in the list of things I have to praise you for!
congratulations goat - no one deserves this more than you!
our startup was acquired today :)
jenni ai is now part of the digital science family
we fucking did it!!!!!
i could go on and on about why this acquisition is so perfect, but i’ll save that for another time
for now, i want to focus on the fact that we built jenni in public from day one all the way to exit
there was honestly very little i didn’t share, so i hope this archive of our journey can help a few founders on their own fantastical journeys
thank you to everyone who's followed along and witnessed all the pivots, near bankruptcies, and general hijinks that come with running a company
despite the roller coaster, we ended by hitting our highest MRR ever shortly before deal close 🥳
it's been a crazy ride, you all helped me live out my dream, truly
i owe my success to my team, my investors, and my family for all of their support throughout the years
not too bad for a college dropout who had to move back in with his parents!

1 year ago I was a broke college drop out... now my apps do over $100k/mo
Here's how I did it and how you can too
Does anyone in my network know @alfiearnaud_ and can connect me on text
There might be genuinely less than 10 apps that do UGC as their primary channel, profitably, and over 100k/mo in revenue
booked a last minute flight to NYC for app week and holy fk is this the place to be
0% chance i spend more time in sweden than the US next yr
shoutout to the homies, now off to BKK to lock in for the winter. cya soon

In less than 2 days, we’ve already managed to retain 3000$ from our integration with @deltaliquidity
That’s an additional 1504$ in rewards for the LP providers of the few pools on their platform that have our hook enabled so far.

• Keepsweeper @flarup
Amazing combination of minesweeper and an RTS. Great art style, bro is doing serious revenue as well. To me, the most likely to do well long term. An iconic app.
• Offload AI @SidneySadel
Reselling is a nightmare. You upload your item into the app and it lists everywhere: ebay, FB, etc. With AI features, it's a really good idea, and well positioned to do super good long term. Think content scheduling for hussle bros.
🧱 Build in Public / 01:15
• Envisioned @letannacook
By far the best journey that was shared. Anna deserves this spot more than anyone else. Consistently showing up, and having never built an app before I think, got to 1k revenue. Seriously impressive discipline. Big congrats.
• Amble @jaydwivedi_ & @heysatya_
The design bros, amazing app: step counter with friends. Great idea, amazing excecution, continues to share the journey with all of us. Thank you bros.
🗣️ Conflict of Interest / 02:18
• Tracer @rkotzy
Easily the most interesting technical app on this list. See network requests from any app! See what MMP an app is using, what analytics provider they use (posthog, etc). Really solid idea, and bro made $500 as well.
• Idle Dev Tycoon @HHaandr
Biased bc I'm featured in the app. A lil game where you've gotta ship apps, pixelart style, super cool, super interactive and great monetisation strategy.
🎨 Design / 03:24
• Clucky @adrianabelarde & @heysatya_
Of course this list would be wrong if it didn't include Clucky. Featured on tech crunch, the design is s-tier. Bros absolutely huge W. Well deserved top spot.
• Riser - by James
Really cool design and take on the alarm clock niche. Build your own little island in the sky and do challenges to stop your alarm.
• Zerotake @novikoff & Sergio
A beautiful cinema camera app. Clearly made with love and care. Excellent s tier design skills. Really good premium feeling app.
🕹️ Gaming / 04:45
• Kings Gambit @alexcooldev
Not even sure if bro submitted, but he wins top spot. 3D chess, it's in browser and i played it for a good hour. Insane design skills but the interactivity was amazing, legitimately fun game.
• Digicity by Andrew
Super well done app, great design too. An isometric city builder. Clearly put a lot of love into this. Good gameplay loops, super solid stuff.
• Nitelore by Neil
Racing game, nice design again, neon lights, fast cars, whats more to love? Really nicely done project. Big W from bro.
I've likely missed a load of amazing apps.
Let me know what I'm missing!

I’m 20, here’s every business I tried before I had my first win…
12: $200 - Sold t-shirts on Roblox
13: $700 - Ran a bike repair shop in my parents garage
14: $4000 - Got monetised on YouTube
15: $5000 - YouTube monetisation and some video editing
16: $500 - Fell off
17: $12,000 - Sold websites, tried SMMA, did a few brand deals
18: -$3,000 - Launched my first startup, made no money, dropped out of college
19: $110,000 - Launched my first mobile app and started to scale
Now at 20 my mobile apps do almost $100k/mo. Time to hit $10m by 21

One year ago I dropped out of college with $0 to my name… now my apps do $1,000,000 a year.
Here’s the story👇
- Grew up posting youtube videos
- Went to college, but failed every class and spent all my time making content
- Joined a startup and grew their brand to 100k followers
- Dropped out of college to start my own startup… failed miserably
- Found the app space and launched my first app with my current co founders
- hit 100k users in 2 months, but made barely any money
- Turned it into an app studio where we attempted multiple other apps, which all failed
- Figured out monetisation for our first app and started generating our first real revenue
- Cracked the distribution code on another app which hit # 19 in its category
If you are building something, your path to success will not be a straight line, and many times will feel like you are only failing.
But if you move as fast as possible, make as many mistakes as you can, and learn from every failure, your first bit of success is inevitable.
Now time to add another two zeros to that number 💪
