The Cab Sec's explanation will be interesting.
The £2 bus fare cap in the Highlands has cost Scotrail £750,000 per annum - the rail firm says if that 12% fall in revenue is replicated in Strathclyde, it could cost it £20m a year.

Odd choice to open this exhibition.
It was an honour to open the new David Bowie exhibition at @VADundee today. What a fantastic celebration of his life and legacy. It's also a real testament to V&A Dundee's strength as a cultural institution. My government will continue investing in culture across Scotland.

My always high opinion of @jamesmatthewsky just got higher.
Michigan's Democratic candidate for Senate Abdul El-Sayed confronted @jamesmatthewsky, telling him he wouldn't answer his questions as he wants "zero" votes in the UK. Watch the heated exchange between the two. Watch our live coverage of the US midterms➡️ trib.al/BikRSb2

How depressing.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

"the Westminster Treasury"
🔎 Back in 2014 the Westminster Treasury rolled out ‘12 things that £1,400 UK Dividend could buy‘, we’ve looked at how much many of those items cost now as part of the UK. snp.org/youll-have-had-your-…

I think the #JohnLewisChristmas ad in 20 years time should revisit this family as granny’s will is being read out. And she’s left the lot to a donkey sanctuary. Karma, you materialistic little sods.

EXCLUSIVE: Ministers have launched a radical overhaul to merge Scotland’s 14 health boards into two mega-authorities without producing a business case, internal Scottish Government papers seen by @heraldscotland reveal.

If you're a parent and the draft Conversion Practices Bill doesn't terrify you, you haven't yet understood what it could do to you and the people you love best.

This will fuel calls for a women’s trade union. And rightly so.
Nurse Sandie Peggie has lost her employment tribunal case against her union, Royal College of Nursing (RCN). Judge Melanie Sangster dismissed claims that RCN discriminated against her because of her gender critical beliefs. Find the judgment and press on our Substack. 🔗⬇️

Jayne Ozanne’s evidence to the #ConversionBill Committee is incredible 🧵 Like other witnesses in favour, Jayne says it’s “so difficult talking in the abstract”. It’s not difficult for me to know that I’d go to prison rather than let an 11yr old wear a breast binder.>
Revealing exchange with @NazShahBfd She asks Ms Ozanne about an 11 year old girl who wants to bind her breasts & her parents refuse to purchase the binder. “It’s so difficult talking in the abstract” says Ozanne “I can’t give you a direct answer” This is a CRIMINAL law 2 clips

The question is not whether your gov should promote Scotland overseas; it is whether the SNP, as a separatist party of gov, is also using these opportunities to advance its constitutional ambitions. I would argue that it is, and that this is, in fact, its primary objective. 🙄

The content warning the bill committee is applying to its own proceedings - in contravention of an earlier decision taken for Parliament as a whole - is explicitly part of building a case for the Bill being needed. It needs calling out, hard, fast and repeatedly till it stops.
Listen to Sarah Vine KC explaining the horror of the Conversion Practices Bill. It all started with “No debate”. That didn’t work. So now the activists are trying to make conversations that cause distress a criminal offence carrying a 5-year prison sentence.

Aren't political observers and commentators supposed to have original things to say?
Nicola Sturgeon has revealed a 'mad' conversation she had with US president Donald Trump while she was Scotland's first minister 👀

This. I have lost count of the people I used to regard as towering intellects whose brains this cult has melted.
You were ever looking for evidence that we are dealing with something quite exceptionally brain melting here, this is it.

Women are being killed in Scotland and I fear we are getting used to it…..strong words from Karyn McCluskey CEO of Community Justice Scotland telling it like it is. Karyn never sugar coats reality. She has seen the human cost of the increasing violence that means the most dangerous place in Scotland for many women is her own home and as a result thousands of children are living in terror. This is why we launched It’s Time…the carnage must end now!

Imagine any newspaper doling out awards to those who lie to them, knock back their FOIs and prefer to see journalists corralled in parliamentary ‘pen’, as if they’re no better than livestock 🤦🏻‍♀
Scottish Greens co-leaders Ross Greer and Gillian Mackay have been nominated for The Herald's Scottish Politician of the Year. See the full shortlist 👇 𝘐𝘔𝘈𝘎𝘌: 𝘑𝘢𝘯𝘦 𝘉𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘰𝘸/𝘗𝘈 𝘈𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘷𝘦/𝘗𝘈 𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴

Fundamental viewing in my youth. Unmatched.
'A New Germany', the first episode of The World at War, was broadcast on this day in 1973. Produced by Jeremy Issacs and narrated by Laurence Olivier, the series (which continues to be regularly re-run worldwide) was three years in the making.
