I respectfully disagree. As a general pediatrician caring for a large neurodiverse population (ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, CAPD, concussion, anxiety), I’m seeing a very different reality over the last 5 years. 🧵1/14
Over-diagnosis / misdiagnosis / self-diagnosis of EDS, MCAS, POTS, & Lyme is a real problem, and it would appear that there is little appetite by medical professionals to discuss this issue publicly.

Grateful to @NPR for the chance to talk about how stress and infections like COVID can stir dormant viruses in our bodies, and what that may mean for our immune system. Still much to learn, and I’m thankful to my team and colleagues for their work 🎧 npr.org/2026/10/23/nx-s1-598…

1. Build a proactive healthcare agent. 2. Lose sleep over the launch day. 3. Get an alert from said agent that i have “minor signs of flareup”. Life came full circle today.

Three children, ages 5, 8, & 11, & a teacher were killed at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon. Two others remain critically injured. The shooter was 16 years old. Urge Congress to #KeepKidsSafe by cosponsoring Ethan’s Law. (202) 224-3121 📝 secure.everyaction.com/IG6Of…

These headlines should make you furious. Guns are the leading cause of death for children in America, and today that reality came to Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon. Police officers went room by room while parents waited outside to find out if their kids were alive. Three children, just 5, 8, and 11 years old, were killed along with a teacher. A 7-year-old child and another teacher are in critical condition. Four families got the worst news of their lives tonight, and the entire community will carry this day with them forever. But this didn’t have to happen. It’s the 36th shooting on K-12 school grounds this year, and the people in power keep choosing not to act. Tonight, we are holding the families in Bend and the entire Silver Rail community close. As a movement of young people born out of a school shooting, we refuse to live in a country where our schools keep becoming crime scenes. Sorrow alone cannot be our response. We demand action, and we will not stop until the killing ends.

The kids killed today in Bend were 5, 8 & 11. My own kids’ ages. Tonight I held them tight, & my heart aches for the parents who now can't hold theirs. Firearms = # 1 cause of death for US kids. If you own a gun, lock it up, ammo separate. Lawmakers: do more to keep kids safe.

OK. Let's answer the question. Why is what @ChronicleBioAI so completely breakthrough level data collection? I know you probably have "testing" fatigue. We have seen some not so helpful and very expensive testing being promoted in the last few years. I have done a LOT of expensive "so-what" testing -- this is not what is going on here. The ChronicleBio databank is different. The people running it are super experienced and very well funded. Given the expertise of this group - I think there is a good chance we are seeing the first hints of where research in these conditions will be heading in the next decade. The data has jumped the walls of the academy! The strength and the breakthrough data collection here is that they are not picking and choosing a level of biology to focus on. The past decade has seen some awesome metabolomics, and genetics, and proteomics, and microbiome studies but they are all disjointed, from different labs, different cohorts, different subtypes, different people. What ChronicleBio is doing is collecting ALL the data for a very well defined group of patients. They are focusing on ME, LongCovid, hEDS, MCAS, POTS, Sjogren's. They get the subtype problem. For each person - they will be collecting about 1 BILLION data points - i.e. pieces of information - for each person. Complete genomics, methylomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics. Nothing like this has ever been attempted before. This will be the biobank that will define the subgroups, tease the genetics from the environmental factors, track changes at different severity levels. And, they come to you. Bedridden - severe - patients can get a home visit for collection. In the past year I have seen groups charging thousands for way less than 1% of this data - for just one level of this data. The first 250 patients are 100% FREE for the first collection and after that each collection will be $400. This is insanely cheap and if I had to guess - I would say they they are probably covering a few thousands dollars worth of testing for each person. The 400$ likely covers the logistics of the collection - all the assay's are paid by ChronicleBio. The only thing that bums me out is that they are not in Canada and not International. I would literally give a toe to get this testing. This one is different. I promise.

College softball is moving closer to an automated ball, strike system.🤖🥎 The Sun Belt is the first to opt into an NCAA experimental rule that puts Trackman in every Sun Belt stadium and on all coaches tablets for conference games in 2027. Velocity, spin, movement, and batted-ball data show up in real time. Balls and strikes can be read after games and will be used for umpire evaluations.📝

A 22-year-old needed his inhaler. He needed his rent money more. He didn't survive the choice. Cole Schmidtknecht walked into a pharmacy on January 10, 2024, expecting to pay $35 to $66 under his insurance. The bill came to $539.19. His daily preventative inhaler wasn't covered anymore. He earned $19 an hour. Rent was coming. Five days later, on January 15, a severe asthma attack sent him into cardiac arrest. He was taken off life support on January 21. His parents have filed a federal lawsuit alleging nobody gave adequate notice of the coverage change or offered an affordable alternative. He wasn't careless. He just did the math.

Many Americans can’t get the care their doctors have prescribed without first wading through a bureaucratic process known as prior authorization. Unfortunately for CA patients, CMA's prior auth fix (#AB539) was vetoed by Gov. Newsom in defense of the health plans. The Gov's message seems to be that patients and physicians are on their own to navigate a predatory system. latimes.com/science/story/20…

🚨📢 HUGE news: U.S. CDC has finally released 2026-2027 COVID vaccine guidance. Citing ongoing legal challenges (eg. AAP et al. v. Kennedy), they have reverted to July 2025 guidance, which is a UNIVERSAL RECOMMENDATION for a booster for all adults aged 18+, and a recommendation for immunocompromised children ages 6 months–17 years. For all other children, it remains available through shared clinical decision making. For adults aged 18+, you no longer need to self-attest to immunocompromised status or an underlying condition that puts you at high risk of severe COVID-19 for your first seasonal dose. Multiple doses per year (every 2 months) are still permitted through the self-attest immunocompromised rules, the same as always. Guidance link: cdc.gov/covid/hcp/vaccine-co…
