The junior mob boss. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that "everything we've requested (from the Rodríguez administration), in terms of economic and political reforms, has been delivered." Also said there will be elections before the end of Trump's term

Every Armenian opposition party leader is either in prison or under house arrest. To fix this minor PR issue (and well aware the current faux opposition parties have expired) Pashinyan offers to make space for a fresh new cohort of pocket opponents. #democracy
#Pashinyan reiterates that #Armenia needs to "eradicate the four-headed war party". He notes the need to form a "state-centered, young, intellectual, and honest" opposition...

Where will be, a month from now? I wonder. This focus on the conflicts between US "Defense" policy and US educational policy, there is a lot more we could say here - not in the most part, tho also w/ regards to the mystifying construction of popular (and other) concepts of "AI"
Abdul El-Sayed: “I want to ban unconditional foreign military aid. I want to ban it to Israel, I want to ban it to Egypt where my family emigrated from, to Jordan, to Pakistan, to Saudi Arabia, to Qatar, to all of them. I don’t pay my tax dollars and you don’t pay your taxes so another country gets a bomb or a tank. We pay our taxes so our kids get good schools. Right now they’re getting bombs and tanks and our kids are not getting good schools”

A province is a legislation after the fact. It is a broken promise highlighting the feds' criminal moves against Indigenous People, and spelling its Treaty words as loopholes.

He is proposing assimilation by saying this as a provincial premier. The provinces are the nemesis of First Nations. @WabKinew is at direct odds with the First Nations people of Canada. He is stealing First Nations children into foster care while also stealing their resources.
Abolish the Indian Act. We have nothing to lose but our chains. We will, of course, need new legislation that is an interface between the Federal government and First Nations. And this MUST be created alongside Chiefs and First Nation governments every step of the way. But it is time to move past the era of this outdated, racist, and patriarchal legislation. I support Prime Minister Carney’s work to position Canada as a global leader in human rights and democracy. The Indian Act is inconsistent with achieving that vision. Our laws at home should reflect the values we champion around the world. It’s time for a relationship with First Nations people that reflects who we are as Canadians today, recognizes nationhood, and lives up to the true nature of reconciliation.

"Backsides" is all he'll say about it, when ass in chief speaks such things.
Abdul El-Sayed: “Donald Trump decided to come here and talk about backsides. He decided to come here and talk about me. I’m not here to talk about me. I’m here to talk about you. You have a choice between a corporate-backed politician who made millions off his time in public service who wants to do the bidding of the worst president to ever serve in the office in Donald Trump or someone who’s willing to stand for Detrioters since I came here over a decade ago”

The FT struggling with democracy
The entire Financial Times editorial board has published a piece urging Lula to cut government spending and appoint a finance minister who enjoys the confidence of investors. I get the impression that the FT editorial board has never opened an economics book other than some outdated introductory macroeconomics textbook, perhaps something by Mankiw. Otherwise, it's hard to explain such astonishing arrogance and economic ignorance. Lula and the Brazilian people have absolutely no reason to bow to the demands of financial markets. Brazil is Latin America's largest economy, a major regional power, and a country with a high degree of monetary sovereignty. Around 97% of the central government's debt is denominated in its own currency, the Brazilian real. The relationship between the state and financial markets is therefore nothing like the FT portrays it. Brazil is not dependent on financial markets. On the contrary, financial markets depend on government spending, which creates financial assets for the private sector, while government debt denominated in the national currency is one of the instruments through which those assets are held. What Brazil needs is not capitulation to financial markets, but an independent economic policy focused on expanding production, creating jobs, and improving people's living standards. Armed with the insights of heterodox economic theory, Brazil has the potential to show the world what a genuine economic miracle looks like. ft.com/content/79785581-88c2…

If Elections in California are really my least favorite topic, I don't think it's because of the potential in voting.

Reminder that most of so called BC was never ceded. “British Columbians” are not title holders and have no say in anything.
British Columbians have every right to debate how their public lands are governed, without threats or intimidation. Disagreements over legislation must be resolved through democratic institutions, public debate and the rule of law.

Venezuelan legislator Jorge Arreaza is going back and forth w/ far-right commentators. He labels the Jan. 3 attacks as "a use of military force, outside int'l law, built on false accusations (Cartel of the Suns, etc.)." Arreaza adds that, after that, the US "rectified its policy", leading to a "fluid relation like the one between 1999-2015, before sanctions"
Replying to @EmmaRincon

Really a part of Brazil's national air and ground defense strategies isn't it.
#Brazil | The Supreme Court bars Flávio Bolsonaro from leaving the country and orders him to surrender his passports, a day after his election defeat to Lula. The senator faces ongoing financial investigations and denies wrongdoing. #FlavioBolsonaro #BrazilElections #teleSUREnglish

You can't cancel democracy by kidnapping its leader. It is way too transparent, even for the potentially brainwashed victims of Venezuela. They forgot that Maduro is the democratically-elected rightful President of Venezuela being held by actual world criminals with phony indictments post-kidnapping, hoping the people 'forgot' that. You can't introduce "democracy" by creating a new one, and violently overthrowing the democratically elected one (Maduro). Are people actually "dumb enough" to believe the lies issued by the U.S. through their quisling and traitor Delcy Rodriguez?

Acting like they own the place. A State Dept official claimed that, after the US-backed dialogue leads to a new Supreme Court, and a new electoral council after that, the Venezuelan presidency should be declared "vacant" (by the National Assembly) to pave the way for elections
