Kieran Folliard built a pub. Then he built another pub. Then he bought more Jameson than anyone in the country. Then he sued Jameson. Then he sold the pubs. Then he launched his own whiskey. Then he sold it to Jim Beam. Then he launched a local food production hub. Then he launched another whiskey. Along the way, he learned a bunch of really interesting things. In this week's episode of The Twin Cities Business Show, he talks about all that and more, including moving from Ireland to Saudi Arabia to work for a dairy farm, what he's learned about business, why local food matters, and how beautiful it was when his childhood team from County Mayo won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship last year.

People not understanding this about Peanuts is a pet peeve of mine. I think people assume it's cute and cheerful like Family Circus or something. But the whole strip is a heart-breaker. - Charlie Brown is a relentless failure and never vindicated for all his striving - Linus's faith is never rewarded - Lucy's love is unrequited and she becomes worse for it - Peppermint Patty's love for Charlie Brown is never returned and on and on Snoopy escapes from this through his imagination. He's totally in his own world and lives by his own rules. The cruelty of life can't get to him.
Schultz always wrote in this key. It's not new. If anything he softened up as he aged. But, guys, Peanuts is a grim comic. Nobody is exempt from punishment except Snoopy.

This strip is genuinely devastating. Like he knew it was soon and he was accepting it
The last 3 years of the Peanuts comic before Charles Schulz died is the most depressing piece of literature ever crafted. A harrowing look at incoming mortality. A gradual darkness around the corners of your eyes swallowing more n more of the light. Atrophy calls. Finality rings.

Today, #November4, 2026, #BobDylan was received in audience by Pope Leo XIV. Together with the editor of L'Osservatore Romano, I accompanied him to the Apostolic Palace. The meeting had the feel of history about it, and at every step I had the sense that anything could happen. Speaking of peace, Leo brought up "Go Away You Bomb." In 1963, Izzy Young, who ran the Folklore Center in Greenwich Village, was putting together a songbook against the atomic bomb; Dylan showed up the next day with the lyrics, typed. In the song, a man talks to the bomb, insults it, orders it to leave. The book never came out, and Dylan never recorded the song. In 2014, the typescript went on the block at Christie's and found no buyer, but the lyrics were published, and so a song that was never sung made its way to a pope's desk, in the company of Dorothy Day, Giorgio La Pira, and Stanislav Petrov, the Soviet officer who, in 1983, declined to pass on a missile alert that the computers insisted was real. Leo is an Augustinian. In 1967, on John Wesley Harding, Dylan had dreamed of that saint. In "I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine," the narrator watches Augustine searching for those who have already sold their souls, witnesses his martyrdom, and realizes, with horror, that he is one of the crowd that put him to death. He wakes alone, in tears. The model was the old ballad about Joe Hill, the labor organizer executed by firing squad in Utah in 1915; Dylan put the Bishop of Hippo in his place and turned a rallying cry into an unwitting confession about our tendency to silence those who bring us the truth. Born in Chicago in 1955, Prevost grew up on the American music of those years. Jim Musselman, a classmate of his at Villanova and a Dylan devotee, recalls that the two of them talked about music a great deal, and that it was Musselman who got him to read an essay pointing to Dylan as the poetic talent of his generation. The Pope who introduced himself from the loggia of St. Peter's as "a son of St. Augustine" knows Dylan's music, and Dylan was glad to meet the American Pope.

Bob also met the Pope back in 1997. He gets older, and the Popes stay the same age.

Please do not try to find out who the Jonestown Death t-shirt guy is. Please just enjoy the clip and let him live. Please do not make him your resistance hero + then devour him alive once it’s revealed that he once called someone a “queerducken” in the Lambgoat comments in 2013.

Fox: Why are you here this morning? Trump rally attendee: Well, in the late 70s, I was a little too young to go to South America for the Jonestown Massacre. But this is as close as I'll ever get, so that's why I'm here. There's nothing like seeing a cult right up front.

I’m a Murphy fan, too, but all these TV odes to his background never include that he was fired at AZ State for a heap of improprieties. “Murph was doing 20 yrs ago at ASU what it just became legal to do for players,” a former college coach said with a laugh this week.
