A lot of brand-new councillors who are going to get quite the shock when their rhetoric crashes into the reality of local government finance and delivery. Good luck to them, and I hope they make good choices.

Reform now have 9 months to deliver what they promised for Lancashire County Council: - No Council Tax rises. - No Cuts. - Zero Council Debt. - No potholes. - No officers paid over 100k. - More money for all. Why do I get the feeling this is like Brexit promises all over again?

See that Reform Uk are keen to screw farmers over again. Lowering food standards now after screwing them with Brexit.
Chlorinated Food. This is the type of chlorine washed salad eaten every day by millions of people in the UK. Yet there is outrage over chlorinated chicken. Simple solution - just don't buy it. It's not that complicated.

This Labour government is bringing the NHS back into democratic control, cutting red tape and giving more resources to the frontline. That means better care for patients and better value for taxpayers.

The UK’s support for Ukraine is unwavering. Today @RachelReevesMP and @SergiiMarchenk3 signed the UK-Ukraine Bilateral Agreement to deliver £2.26bn of new funding to Ukraine, part of a G7 scheme. This will be paid back using profits from sanctioned Russian sovereign assets.

Labour is building the homes that our families in Swindon need - putting the dream of home ownership back in reach. That’s the difference you get with Labour in power.   #BuildingABetterSwindon

There was a vote in the House of Commons just after 2.30pm on the Water Bill and Hansard suggests “no vote recorded” for Robert. 🤷🏾‍♂️
You guessed it, it’s 4pm and Parliament is done for the day. Again. This is a zombie government.

Sitting on this website makes me feel like I live on another planet. If someone says "find us 83 votes" at a count, I know 1. They’re making an ironic joke, it’s funny cos you can’t just ‘find’ votes lying around or 2. It’s a (humorous, cos of 1) request to contest spoilt ballots or request a recount, which is a legitimate practice. Bookmarking this to follow up to see whether fraud is ever discovered here.

This stuff is making me consider doing my dissertation on the use of irony in public life (tho this wasn’t even public life, it was private). How on earth could someone lift votes from one candidate (in a totally different ward on a totally different ballot!) and gift them to another? There are multiple eyes from every party watching the count as well and a close count like this, would’ve been incredibly closely monitored. If it comes down to split ballots in a ward where multiple councillors are being elected at once, I can see miscounts happening… but I still can’t see how you purposefully get the counters (independent people) to swap tallies between candidates like that?

We love it when a plan comes together! Today we welcomed Will Stone, MP, to cut the ribbon at Parkside Hub in Penhill . The newly refurbished Penhill Bowls Club has been transformed into a vibrant community youth facility and café, providing a community space for residents.
