The arrogance is staggering. Adam Habib, Ivor Blumenthal and Gareth van Onselen seem convinced they know what鈥檚 best for Black people better than Black people themselves.
Black voters have agency, opinions and the right to choose their own political alliances.

I was the Councillor candidate for ActionSA in Tshwane Ward 46. I put up a good fight, got called names, called a sell out. My posters were being ripped off, and homeless people admitted to being paid to rip my posters, and VF+ posters, off. This was only the beginning.
The DA councillor candidate then parked her branded car inside the VD where the queue was passing. I addressed it and she got angry.
Whats worse is, I then caught her talking to voters in the queue. She even followed some to the ballot boxes. The IEC said they saw nothing.
After addressing these matters, I had people screaming at me and threatening me, telling me to watch my back, in the streets.
When counting started, there was a man called Jordan who was running the whole thing. Pretty much telling the IEC how to do their job as he is 'experienced.'
Now I saw that his profile Pic is with the IEC PO who was running the voting station where we were counting.
Found out after that he works for Sarupen and his sole job, almost for the last 2 years, was to badmouth ActionSA. Constant smear campaigns.
Why do they always get away with everything? They are corrupt, and think the law doesn't apply to them. Even the IEC is in on it. People are voting for them. What's worse is, black middle class is voting for them. How? Disgusting.

How about this 馃
Border control and immigration policy are National Government responsibilities.
A municipality and/or Ward Councillor does not have any power to control our borders nor order deportations.
The people of South Africa will soon discover that political parties which campaigned on those promises in the Local Government Elections promised powers that municipalities do not possess.
All these dishonest parties simply played with the emotions and vulnerabilities of our people.
Voting is done now. The question you must ask the party you voted for is; will they close the border? The answer is NO!

ActionSA has concluded a productive and mutually respectful first engagement with the ANC in which we discussed principles around how stable and effective coalition governments could be formed.
We remain committed to engaging all parties in such a manner.

Let me be clear, ActionSA's choices in coalitions:
鉁咃笍 Will be based on the best interests of residents of municipalities and the wishes of our constituents.
鉂岋笍 Won't be based on the patronising and arrogant insults of people and organisations that hate ActionSA.

What is happening in that ward. Initially it was given to ANC and then yesterday we heard a recount was done and then it was given to ActionSA. Then now are you saying another recount was done and then now given back to ANC? Wow.

Dear @HermanMashaba and @Action4SA , investing in patriotic and dedicated party agents is of paramount importance in elections, the @IECSouthAfrica voting system has many loop loopholes, in 2021 my younger brother was a party agent for ActionSA, their voting station was a School, and the IEC used 3 classrooms for voting, ActionSA had 3 party agents, the 2 left by 6PM , and could not wait for counting which normally happens very late into early mornings, this meant he could only be available for counting at the voting classroom he was a party agent at, when counting was done on all the 3 classrooms in that voting station, it was time to capture the final vote of that voting station, only for him to find out that ActionSA had 0-zero votes on the other classrooms which ActionSA had no party agents, he disputed this and call for a recount, the DA,EFF,IFP and ANC party agents said it was late, and yes the all counted and ActionSA had no votes in the other classrooms, he had to convince the IEC lady who was incharge of the voting station, and she agreed for a recount as per IEC regulations, only to find out that ActionSA did secure votes in the classrooms where the ActionSA party agents left before counting and was the 3rd biggest party in that voting station after the ANC and EFF, so yes political parties can agree to deprive another party of its votes and sign off the slips for a final capturing by the IEC official, these are some of the loopholes with this voting system!

I have some thoughts.
I cannot stand this narrative. It grinds my tits. Herman Mashaba, the angry black refusing to submit.
All he has said is that he does not trust the DA given how many times the party has stabbed him and ActionSA in the back. That is a perfectly rational reaction on both a personal and political level. From his perspective, as I understand it, he sees it as foolhardy, and irresponsible, to trust the DA when it has proven untrustworthy to him and his party. Why would he enter a coalition with a partner he does not trust to keep it stable, when instability is part of why Joburg in particular collapsed? The unfairness. The racial troping. The gaslighting. I f鈥檌ng hate it.
Personally? I think the DA has matured as a coalition partner. The GNU experience as a junior partner taught some humility. Will it still treat its coalition partners horribly? I don鈥檛 know. I鈥檇 err on cautious hope. Will it still backstab? I don鈥檛 know. I鈥檇 err on cautious hope. Would I trust it? Well, trust is a very personal thing isn鈥檛 it? It is a tally of events and experiences. Different parties have had different experiences with it. Different people have had different experiences with it. Tough to call. We are all human. So. I don鈥檛 know.
And I think you forget politicians are humans and bleed and feel the same way you do. It would be irrational not to expect human emotion.
You also put too much hope in selflessness in politics, a vocation that is, by nature, driven by self-interest. Adjust your expectations and spare yourself disappintment. This. Is. Politics.
Dr Ivor Blumenthal warns that Herman Mashaba鈥檚 hostility towards the DA threatens ActionSA鈥檚 future and the prospects of stable coalition government in Gauteng鈥檚 metros.

3. Denying Helen the position of mayor is legally permissible but would violate the substantive intent of our democracy. How can the biggest party be excluded? We should therefore try and avoid it if at all possible? So what are Helen鈥檚 options for coalition partners?

What amazes me is how everyone is advising ActionSA to work with the DA. These are the self same people who wrote us off, called us ASA. Now that we鈥檝e broken the back of the ANC in their ANC strongholds they suddenly see our value to the DA who also belittled and maligned us. There is too much bad history. At some point after being backstabbed too many times, it becomes a fool鈥檚 errand to continue to trust when evidence tells you not to.
