ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Nufāwī, also known as Dan Tsatsa, was a Nupe Islamic scholar and military leader.
He visited Dan Fodio and pledged his allegiance, and was given a flag to spread the jihad in Nupe. He was successful at first, occupying the Nupe capital, Mokwa, for six months, but was unable to hold it and had to appeal for external assistance from Sokoto. After the death of Dan Fodio in 1817, Malam Dendo, who was a Fulani leader, was endorsed as the primary leader for Nupe by the Caliphate. The shifting politics placed him at odds with Dendo, and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān was murdered three years later.

Imam al-Shafi’i said you can marry your own daughter born from “zina”(born out of wedlock, through fornication or adultery), because she’s NOT considered your own legal daughter under Sharia law. And ofc he used the hadith of his prophet found in Bukhari to back it up. Now a Muslim might say: “Well al-Shafi’i did say that he disliked it.” That is true, BUT they stop there and like any typical Muslim they won’t tell you what said in the END, al-Shafi’i finished his sentence with: “If he marries one, I would NOT annul the marriage” (i.e. he would not annul the marriage of the father with his own daughter). 🤮🤦♂️ Welcome to Islam!

One of the biggest mistakes Southerners make is assuming that an educated Northerner is automatically too sophisticated to be a religious fanatic. Education, polished English, and professional titles don’t necessarily erase religious extremism. When religious loyalty is put to the test, some of these supposedly enlightened elites can reveal the same fanaticism they look down on in the Almajiri. A degree can educate the mind, but it doesn’t automatically teach critical thinking or free anyone from religious indoctrination.
