before you say that’s not an apt comparison remember that 70% of BPD patients attempt suicide and 10% are successful. the 5-year survival rate for cancer is around 70% right now (30% die from it) so the mortality rate is certainly higher but both are lethal and hard to live with

not to mention both are hard to get treated. therapy (DBT) is effective for BPD and we can live good lives with the right support but many therapists will outright refuse to treat us and will reinforce stigma by acting like we’re awful people for merely having it
