Tailscale replied on Reddit: Hi folks, Mike Shaver here, VP of Engineering at Tailscale. We've seen the concerns about Tailscale SSH and wanted to share what we know so far. If you want to jump to the most important part, based on our current assessment, we're not recommending that everyone disable Tailscale SSH. We've now received the researcher's report and are reviewing it. Our engineering and security teams had already been investigating independently, with help from external security specialists. That work has identified issues we're working to fix. We're still validating the full scope, including which configurations are affected. A bit of technical context: Tailscale SSH uses your tailnet's access policies to control who can connect to which machines. Most of the issues we've identified so far concern what happens after someone has been authorized to connect, particularly how Unix privileges and SSH forwarding are handled. In some cases, a session may be able to do more than the configured local user should be allowed to do. While it’s a serious concern, it isn't the same as an unauthenticated attacker being able to connect to arbitrary machines, but the potential impact depends on how SSH access is configured. We're still investigating, so we don't want to make blanket claims about what's affected or not. Again, based on our current assessment, we're not recommending that everyone disable Tailscale SSH. In the meantime, there are a few precautions you can take: •Review your SSH access policies. Make sure only the people and devices that need access have it. •Review SSH forwarding permissions and remove access you don't need. •Consider enabling SSH check mode for an additional authentication step. This won't fix privilege escalation issues, but it does add another barrier to gaining access. •Enable automatic updates where supported so you can pick up fixes when they're released. For particularly sensitive systems, consider temporarily tightening your Tailscale SSH access policies while we investigate, so that only the specific users and devices that need access can connect. We're working on fixes and testing them carefully. We'll publish a security advisory explaining the confirmed findings, affected configurations, recommended actions and available patches. We'll also follow up with a more detailed technical write-up. If we find anything that changes our assessment or requires immediate customer action, we'll communicate that. We know it's been a rough week for security teams, and we understand why people are concerned. We'd rather give you the technical context we have than speculate about things we haven't confirmed yet. We'll share more as we verify the details. If you have any questions about how this relates to your particular environment, please get in touch with our team tailscale.com/contact/suppor…

Already used this on two small projects - oh wow. This revealed a bunch of new language improvements I wasn't aware of, plus helped fix up a heap of small issues.
Well it's official, BeautifulRust has been the fastest growing open source project I've ever created. Sometimes you just put something out into the world and find people seem to dig it. Glad to see so many people love Rust as much as I do, and care about writing clean Rust code. I think we are moving into a time where poorly written code matters even more because if an agent misunderstands something, you'll burn a lot of tokens doing the wrong thing. One of the biggest feature requests I've had over the last 24-hours is adding the ability to turn C, C++ and Python code into nice, clean, idiomatic Rust. So I'm building that out now. Always like the idea of dagger, and surprisingly my old old pipeline still runs (sdk based) with thr newer version. Still don't like writing go for pipelines tho - a #roq version might be nice, time to check out all the new goodness!
After 5 years in v0, it's finally happening.. Dagger 1.0 is in beta and we need your help testing it. If you've tried Dagger before, a lot has changed... We've been cooking.

Cloudflare is taking ownership of tsrs, a port of TypeScript to Rust. It's 8x faster and uses 70% less memory than TypeScript 7.0. We are not forking TypeScript – we are working with the TypeScript team and as a result 7.1 is already ~2.5x faster, too. blog.cloudflare.com/typescri…

Finally got my invite to @superlogical this morning and only barely scratching the surface, whilst trying to sort out final things at work. One thing I've wanted in #jujutsu for ages is a way to simply track which change-id I'm testing when running `jj run`, so I wrapped rex.

...now - I could probably have done that in any other terminal, I dunno, but this works and seems to work quite well.

Iris Chat is like Signal, but without phone numbers or accounts. Identities are Nostr public keys. Just enter a name (or leave it blank) and start messaging. Works offline over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Available on mobile and desktop. Agent-friendly CLI. irischat.org

The ffmpeg saga continues with "dblur" & an improvement I found with an LLM Blurring was a bit slow That's because it copied the same chunk of memory as many times as the frame's pixel width... for no reason 💀 95 GB of data per frame Human code: 2452 ms Human+LLM: 49 ms

If we don't trust agents, why do we trust the environments they build in? Containers aren't enough. Shared kernels aren't enough. Every piece of software will need real isolation. we've built minimal to give every agent its own microVM on your machine. You decide exactly what it can touch. Isolation should be the default.
