I said (at length, in a book), Trump's base is full of people who are bored, resentful, angry about the outcome of their own lives. They were happy to punish others for that - until they realized Trump hates *them*, too.
They didn't see it until gas got expensive, but... okay 🤷♂️

Nice to see Mamet get the honor. But do we have stats on how many the Trump / Kennedy Center people had to phone up and get rejected by to get this final group? 💤 😴

It's time to make 37 minutes available to bathe your ears in an oratory ocean of delicious confidence in the audacity of hope.
A masterclass that makes Trump look like the small insignificant man he is. There is NO competing with this when you're the global village idiot.

"You Can't Always Get What You Want" is one of the most ambitious & enduring masterpieces by the Rolling Stones. Released in July 1969 as the B-side to "Honky Tonk Women" and later serving as the epic closing track to the album Let It Bleed, it is widely considered the band's poignant, philosophical farewell to the idealism of the 1960s, and anti-war.
The Meaning: Hope Amid Disillusionment
The Core Message: While the song addresses deep disappointment, its famous chorus offers a grounded lesson in acceptance: you might not get your absolute desires, but persistent effort will secure what is truly essential to survive.
Legend: According to local folklore, it refers to Jimmy Hutmaker, a colorful town character from Excelsior, Minnesota. As the story goes, Jagger encountered him at a drugstore in 1964 where Hutmaker complained about a missing soda flavor, muttering the phrase "you can't always get what you want". The Studio Reality: Rock historians and insiders maintain that "Mr. Jimmy" was actually a nod to Jimmy Miller, the band's genius record producer during their golden era.
The track's orchestral-rock grandeur masks immense behind-the-scenes chaos at London's Olympic Sound Studios. The Choir: Jagger wanted a gospel punch and brought in the 60-voice London Bach Choir. Arranger Jack Nitzsche double-tracked their vocals to create a towering, angelic wall of sound. Interestingly, due to the Stones' dangerous, drug-fueled reputation, the choir later requested their name be removed from the original album credits.
