Now feels like a pretty suitable moment to speak from the heart. This season started off exactly how I had hoped but it very quickly unravelled with tough luck and poor performances. It’s been the first proper season of my career where I’ve had more bad days than good.

I’ve realized that what hurt me the most this season wasn’t George not becoming champion, but the mistreatment he received and the continued disappointment from his own team. I can accept my driver not winning, but it’s the way everything happened that’s messing with me.

Have you noticed how the team switched from “it’s your driving style” and “you just didn’t have enough luck” to “it’s on us” and “we need to figure it out” They’ve been figuring it out the whole season btw

Mercedes has explained why George Russell missed his post-race media duties in Mexico. According to Toto Wolff, Russell was devastated after losing the championship to teammate Kimi Antonelli and was too emotional to face the media. Mercedes was fined €5,000 for his absence.
