Indeed! This western so-called "China expert" knows 100% nothing about China's history and development, let alone the thoughts of Mao, regurgitating every chance he has of the anti-Mao, anti-China, anti-Xi propaganda crap proliferated by Western media. Mao not only appreciated the importance of market economy in the development of a nation, he praised and recruited the assistance of several mega-industrialists in the early period of PRC🇨🇳 history, particularly during the period of the two Sino-Japanese wars and the Civil War that followed. It was in this period the concept and terminology 红色资本家/Red Capitalists came to be. Mao had no taste for petty bourgeoise and hereditary land owners whose sole interest and contribution to the building of New China was expansion of their personal wealth - that is to say, NO contribution. Those who have watched the television series The Disguiser (2015) about the Ming family would have encountered this term 红色资本家 over and over again spoken by 明镜 the older sister and matriarch of the family. The story of The Disguiser is fictional . In real life mega industrialists like the Ming Family existed. Their businesses were in mining, textiles, flour. And their reach was global. An example would be 荣毅仁. Just tap the name and google. One thing I cannot get over with these charlatan extraordinaire China experts - they are not only shallow, they are LAZY. They troll all day looking for people who don't hate China to attack and they don't even have ammunition to attack with, being 100% ignorant and stupid to boot.
Only those with a superficial understanding of the development of New China would share your view. In fact, Mao Zedong didn't oppose a market economy, but the China he inherited was so underdeveloped and impoverished that implementing a market economy would have led to an "Indianization" of the country. Mao chose to prioritize the following: land reform, water conservancy infrastructure, the development of basic industries, nuclear weapons and the nuclear industry, missiles and satellites, gender equality, raising national literacy rates, and establishing a basic rural healthcare system, etc. All of these laid a solid foundation for Deng Xiaoping's economic reforms. Without Mao Zedong, China might have become a big country, but it could never have become a big power. In fact, beginning in the mid-to-late 1970s, Deng Xiaoping carried out economic reforms under Mao Zedong's guidance, including the establishment of relations with the US. In Deng's China, and even now in Xi's China, public ownership and state-owned enterprises remain the unshakable foundation of our economy. Mao's system of Five-Year Plans has continued without interruption, and we are now approaching the Fifteenth Five-Year Plan.

An American girl living in China just watched this movie. Here's what she thinks about it.👇 Again, I highly recommend that you go to the cinema to watch the movie - "DEAD TO RIGHTS" (#南京照相馆 aka Nanjing Photo Studio) . Fuck the 🇯🇵Japanese fascists!😡
"Photos may fade, but history doesn't—it just waits for someone to turn the page." 😭 "DEAD TO RIGHTS" (#南京照相馆 Nanjing Photo Studio) is the best movie I've watched this year with my kid. I highly recommend all Chinese to support this movie. I also hope that all peace-loving foreign friends will watch it.

Two different styles of communication altogether. American diplomats express themselves in the manner of gangsters. They insult, threaten, and extort to extract what they want. They are incapable of good manners in civil society. If you are subtle and polite, they interpret that as weakness. America has seen better days.
China's national leaders and diplomats are usually modest and reserved. But that can be a problem—folks in Washington, those brash Americans, just don't understand us. Only the kind of language used by Dr. Gao Zhikai seems to can make them understand us.😅

A high-trust society? China is one. I know the anti-China trolls will say it's because of the cameras. I don't mind, because I'm a law-abiding citizen, and I like the feeling of being protected by those cameras.

I know that the CIA gives a lot of money to the Dalai Lama, but these luxury watches we see are worthless compared to his collection in the old days in old Xizang (Tibet). I mean, human skin thangkas, skull bowls and skull drums. #DalaiLamaIsEvil

This beautiful Tibetan drum is actually a human skin drum. It's the favorite instrument of Nancy Pelosi's close friend, Dalai Lama. A PLA soldier found it in Dalai's Potala Palace in 1959. It was made by the skin of a 16 year old beautiful Tibetan girl who "died without disease".
66 years ago, thousands of Tibetans bravely risked their lives in the struggle for religious, linguistic and cultural freedom.   A young Dalai Lama was forced into exile and became a lasting symbol of Tibet’s resilience.   Today, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting Tibet’s fight for freedom and autonomy. By the way, this is what an actual environmentalist looks like 👇 No Ted talk, no holding signs or blocking traffic, she just quietly spent 20 years planting 2 million trees in a brutal desert.
Her name is Yi Jiefang and she has planted 2 million trees in 20 years.👍 BBC: She's eating up the desert, she's forcing 2 million trees to live.🙃

Canadian man had been waiting 6 months for an MRI appointment in Canada. Ended up doing it in China during a vacation: all it took was a couple of hours and RMB 1,000 (about $140). I systematically do the same when I travel to China myself, I always use the opportunity to do health tests. I've experienced Chinese public hospitals literally dozens of times and I've done virtually all health tests imaginable. Not once has it taken me more than half a day between my arrival at the hospital and getting the test done. And it typically costs 10-20 times less than what it'd cost in the West. The efficiency and cost differential is almost unbelievable.
Canadians, welcome to China's public hospitals for MRI/CT scans, plus travel & great food!😃 #ChinaTravel #MedicalTourism #HealthCare

Selection democracy with multi-level voting. In China, citizens in each region directly vote for grassroots deputies to the People's Congress, and then these elites elect the leaders of the city, province, and nation at every level. Let qualified people vote for qualified people.

Good heaven! What is the aim of this idiotic TE article?! Another one of its usual insinuating celebrity gossips posing as some kind of Freudian character analysis of which it has no qualifications to render, just to cast a negative light on anything at all that has to do with China and China’s leaders? Why doesn’t it write one on the agonizing relationship King Charles had with his dad and how it had shaped him? Or Prince Harry with his mom? Or George VI’s with his mom and dad that resulted in his lifelong debilitating stuttering? And what’s “grim” about a childhood where a boy would wash in his father‘s bathwater and the next morning the water used for laundry? Xi was born in 1953 in BJ. In 1960 when he would be 7, it was not at all uncommon for many homes at that time where hot water had to be boiled in kettles for bath. Ask how many minutes were kids in English public schools allowed in taking hot bath in 1960. I know the answer because my oldest brother went to such a school! And what’s wrong with Chinese performing the traditional kowtow ritual before our parents in a display of reverence. I do that every year on the anniversary of my mom and my dad’s passing. I have an altar in my living room right now as we speak where I keep a pair of battery operated candles in front of their pictures and fresh flowers on the altar around the year, changed every week. This is the 11th year I am doing it and I will keep doing it until the day comes when I physically am not able to. Just because the British are used to their barbarian way doesn’t mean the whole world should model after it. What petty stupid smut TE is writing these days and getting worse every day!
What the Economist describes also applies to me - and perhaps to most Chinese born before the 1980s👇 "Xi was used to leftovers. As a boy, he would wash in his father’s bathwater. (The next morning the water would be used for a third time, to launder the family’s clothes.) He also understood the importance of deference, for Xi Zhongxun had taught him that children who did not respect their parents were doomed to fail as adults. Every lunar new year, Mr Xi would perform the traditional kowtow ritual, prostrating himself before his parents in a display of reverence." So what is the Economist trying to say?🤔
