The trades can build anything... except the software they run on. That changes today. We've raised $9.2M to build Dalton Mills. Software has spent its whole history getting closer to the people who do the work. First, the system of record. Software you stored your business in. Then, the agentic era. Software that did the work for you. Now, the bespoke era. Agentic software you build yourself, without code. Each era closed the gap and this one closes it for good. Software can finally work around your business, instead of you bending your business to make it fit. You ran on software made for everyone… never for you. That's over. Welcome to @DaltonMillsAI. Let the builders build!

How is it possible that Lafayette IN and Charlottesville VA have more search interest in "Claude" on google than SF. Is it because people in SF don't search for Claude, they just go to it?

Being a founder is an absolute honor. I love it. But we don’t talk honestly enough about the weight of asking people to build their lives around something you’re still trying to make work. People take jobs, sign leases, buy homes, and start families with some expectation that the company you’re building will be there tomorrow. You carry that into decisions they’ll never even know you had to make. And after going through the hard years together, their success becomes deeply personal. You want the early employee to buy that house. You want the person who turned down a safer job to be glad they did. And you want the years people gave this company to change their lives for the better. That weight exists whether the ending is an exit or a shutdown. You love the company, and you love the people who made it worth building. You know you can’t guarantee everyone a great outcome.... but you still feel like you owe them one. @dens thanks for being so open, honest and candid about your journey.

Ryan is absolutely COOKING!
For the last few days, I’ve been using /poteto-mode to help with hill-climbing improvements to the agent we’re building into @DaltonMillsAI. It’s been a huge help teaching agents how to coordinate the process and measure at each step.

The opportunity here is massive. FDEs might not work in your 90% GM model but when working with SMBs it’s necessary. I think if you can deliver a white glove onboarding experience you can have these customers for life, just need to look last year 1 of the spreadsheet
SMBs are so far from adopting AI. I thought the explosion of consumer agent calls and texts would pull SMBs into adoption over the next few years. But many don't even have basic online booking. (I'm attempting to pay someone to train our dog)

You know my name and home address.... but I don’t even know your company’s name. And you want me to trust you with my roof? SMB marketers - does this actually convert, or is this a scam?

We had 4,500 flooring stores using our software at @Broadlume During onboarding every single customer got my phone number, and 1 of 3 things happened. 75% of the time I would never get a text 5% of the time I would get a text that’s something complimentary 20% of the time I would get a complaint or issue via text….. BUT 100% of the time that turned an upset customer into a happy one. Text in powerful. Customers just want to be heard and responded to (personally not by agents)
Founders: Are you on text with your business customers? Met with a startup founder who had just been texting his largest customer (which informed him over text that they were rolling out the product more broadly). Texting with your best accounts is a sign of strong, trusted relationships. In fact, if you're NOT texting, it means that the relationship is not strong enough. Get on text!

Apple gave us phones that fold. Tesla gave us flying cars.
JUST IN: Elon Musk unveils the Tesla Roadster by launching it off a ramp before the car flipped in midair and safely landed on the ground. The car is a collaboration between Tesla and SpaceX. One of the most insane things I've ever seen.

This is one of those opportunities where the downside of shooting your shot is 0… but your upside is unlimited
I'm hiring my next Chief of Staff. You won’t know every field I work in. What matters is how quickly you learn, the questions you ask, and whether you can think from first principles. You’ll help evaluate opportunities and work with founders building consequential companies. Technical background preferred. Three-year commitment. Menlo Park, in person. Apply: jobs.ashbyhq.com/khoslaventu…

Are phone calls with Dot actually better UX, or did they just give voice mode a ringtone?

He's going to be the next CEO of Meta isn't he....
> be Alexandr Wang > grow up in Los Alamos, parents are physicists at the national lab > drop out of MIT at 19 > start Scale AI, labeling data for every AI lab on earth > youngest self-made billionaire in the world at 24 > Zuckerberg pays $14.3B for 49% of your company > and hires you to run Meta's superintelligence lab > rebuild Meta's whole AI org in a few months > Zuck writes a check for $100-200 billion > asks if you're sure it's going to work > "certainly not clear at all that it was going to work." > ship Muse Wonder anyway > Meta's own tests put it next to Fable 5.1 and GPT-6 Astra

When is @tryramp going to launch a payment gateway? At this point I’m expecting the announcement any day…. Or at least the day after we choose rainforest / stripe to work with.
