Perhaps we should start with RRRUK’s practice of pre-emptively or immediately blocking people on Xitter who dare to disagree with its position, before posting questions challenging those very people to respond—when, of course, they cannot.
Rather an interesting approach to open discussion.
And RRRUK has been actively recruiting members, encouraging supporters to spread its message and using parkrun participation as a vehicle for promoting its campaign.
Yet when another club encourages people to affiliate and share its support for parkrun’s existing arrangements, that apparently becomes unacceptable political campaigning.
There is a legitimate distinction between individuals expressing support for a campaign and official parkrun event teams endorsing one. But that distinction applies equally to both sides.
And “quality not quantity”? That’s rather amusing, Janet, considering that RRRUK originally made quantity the centrepiece of its campaign, setting ambitious targets of 1,750, then 1,000, then 750 members.
Having fallen substantially short of those ambitions, we’re now treated to repeated recruitment appeals in pursuit of rather arbitrary numerical milestones, including palindromes and a suitably spooky 666 for Halloween.
It’s a little late to suggest that quantity doesn’t matter when the campaign you support has spent so much effort trying to make it matter.

Is Flag & Pole Runners already in the UK’s top 20 biggest Parkrun clubs for "Number of Runs"? 😱🥳
That’s some seriously speedy progress for a club that’s only days old! 🏃♀️💨🏳️🌈

Flag & Pole Runners, a Parkrun club that supports inclusion at Parkrun, just overtook @RRRunnersUK's total completed Parkruns. It took Flag & Pole two days. It just goes to show what Parkrunners do and don't support. Turns out inclusion is rather popular! parkrun.org.uk/groups/50750/

I've been keeping an eye on an account I strongly suspected bought followers. Maybe at the beginning, but almost definitely a couple weeks later. Their follower count is now eroding. I assume X automation finds and deletes inauthentic accounts, albeit slowly and cautiously.

We had more days above 30 degrees C this Summer than during the whole of the 1980s. Yes, really! In one year!

UK crime was four times higher when Oasis first played Knebworth than at last year’s reunion gigs.
The collapse of crime and safer streets is one of the biggest stories of our time.
But one almost never told - or believed.
My take on today’s figures: comment.press/lawless
It's interesting to see RRRUK use Parkrun's gender data as a proxy for sex when determining participation. I wonder if Parkrun could do the same? 🤔

There is this:-
"Of nearly 80,000 UK parkrunners
surveyed in 2025 by Sheffield Hallam
University, almost 75% said that running,
walking or volunteering at parkrun
improved their life satisfaction. They
felt happier, and had improved wellbeing
and a greater sense of achievement."

No state has a right to exist! That’s not ‘nonsense’ or ‘strange’. It’s true! Did Czechoslovakia have a right to exist? If so, how did we end up with Slovakia and the Czech Republic? Does the UK have a right to exist? If so, how come Scots were allowed to vote to break it up?

This rather gives the game away. If the position is “you will never convince me”, then this is no longer about asking what policy best serves parkrun’s purpose, culture and participants. The conclusion is fixed in advance; parkrun is simply the battleground for a prior ideological commitment.
At least Claire is candid enough to show that this is a crusade to impose a fixed ideological position, not an open inquiry into what policy best serves parkrun. It’s a shame others still dress the same predetermined conclusion up as neutral questions of “fairness” and “accuracy”.

It's unrealistic to expect mass participation community events to deliver competitive sport level fairness, hence parkrun isn't regulated as one.
Able bodied participants have an advantage over ones who aren't, adults over juniors in the overall standings, and doping is allowed.
Getting serious Barkrun and #BringBackTheStats vibes from RRRUK. We’ve been here before. Safety and inclusion must come first—not be sacrificed at the altar of people’s desire to race, compete or participate on their own terms, regardless of safety and operational considerations.

Televising a public execution is beyond disgusting and barbaric. The death penalty should not exist, let alone be a live-streamed spectacle.
This is a grotesque violation of human dignity. We must oppose this - and the death penalty - everywhere.
