Elon & Vivek said white ppl could definitely have jobs in this country. Just not *good* jobs. Not the kind of jobs *they* offer. Y'all can absolutely have jobs. Just..*separate* jobs. Not necessarily *lesser* jobs. Probably totally *equal* *other* jobs. Separate but equal jobs.

Yes, which is why the people who use “woke” as a slur are all fighting for trans rights. Considering that “Latinx” was an exercise to be inclusive — which is just what happens with words — and it was not demanded by law or forced on to anyone, seems silly to put on this act.
Replying to @ijbailey
Not-woke: “Trans people should enjoy the same robust civil rights protections afforded to any minority group.” Woke: “We must adopt the word Latinx because it is more inclusive of trans and non-binary folks, and resistance to this unwieldy neologism is rooted in transphobia.”

Curious about what sorts of crazy things cells get up to in the wild? We've found over the past few years cellular slime molds do all sorts of amazing things in complex, naturalistic environments and are looking for experimental and theory postdocs (1/4) youtube.com/shorts/CalY9Lmc8…

I will have two postdoc positions and a technical post in my new(ish) lab in UCL. One biased to wet experiments with chemoattractant gradients, and one more based on modelling and maths. But both posts encompassing both. Drop me a line if interested - I'd love to hear from you.

I doubt anyone will read this, but when watching the great number police officers mobilizing on campuses, a thought was: how much does this cost? It looks expensive for 500 officers to arrest 40 people. Taxes are high already!

56 years ago today, a radical coalition of students at #ColumbiaUniversity occupied the very same spaces where contemporary learners now demonstrate. They protested CU's complicity with war, its land grab in West Harlem, and its condescension to students. I'll post more today!

Academia would be healthier if more professors were empowered to focus on teaching, rather than producing work they don't care about for journals nobody reads. We are incentivized to prioritize the part of our jobs that matter least, cutting corners on the part that matters most.
