On 31st October 2026, the Law Society of Kenya Legal Awareness Week 2026, held under the theme "Community Advocates: Bridging the Gap Between People and Justice,” came to a memorable climax with the Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony at Emara Ole Sereni Hotel, Nairobi.
The elegant evening brought together LSK Council Members, Branch Chairpersons, advocates, partners, stakeholders and distinguished guests to celebrate the successful culmination of the week-long initiative dedicated to promoting legal awareness, enhancing access to justice and strengthening the relationship between the legal profession and the communities it serves.
The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Hon. Lady Justice Anne Amadi, CBS, Judge of the First Instance Division of the East African Court of Justice (EACJ), who delivered the keynote address, underscoring the importance of justice, legal empowerment and the role of advocates in bridging the gap between people and justice.
The LSK President, Mr. Charles Kanjama, SC, and the LSK Vice President, Ms. Teresia Wavinya, CEO and Converners of the PILA Committees addressed the gathering, reaffirming the Society’s commitment to advancing the rule of law, promoting access to justice and ensuring that legal services remain accessible to all.
The Society recognised the collective leadership and invaluable contribution of all LSK Council Members, whose dedication and commitment continue to guide the Society in fulfilling its mandate and championing the interests of the legal profession and the public.
Special recognition was accorded to Ms. Penina Wanyangu, Convener of the LSK Legal Aid and Awareness Committee, the Converner and Co-Convener of the PIL Committee for their leadership and instrumental role in coordinating and advancing the Legal Awareness Week initiative. The Society acknowledged the contribution of the Committees in championing public interest advocacy and access to justice.
The Gala Dinner was further honoured by the presence of Mr. William Musyoki, Chairperson of the National Legal Aid Service (NLAS), whose participation underscored the importance of collaboration and partnership in advancing legal aid and ensuring access to justice for all.
The Society also recognised the Branch leadership present, including Mr. Eric Kivuva, Nairobi Branch Chairperson; Ms. Natasha Errey, Mombasa Branch Chairperson; Ms. Grace Otieno, West Kenya Branch Chairperson, Ms. Winnie Mireri Branch Chairperson South West and Oscar Oduor Branch Chairperson North Rift. Their presence demonstrated the important role played by LSK branches in extending legal awareness, advocacy and services to communities across the country.
A major highlight of the evening was the Awards and Recognition Ceremony, during which outstanding individuals and institutions were celebrated for their contributions to community advocacy, legal awareness, access to justice and service to the public. The awardees were recognised for their commitment, dedication and exemplary efforts in bringing legal services closer to the people and advancing the ideals of justice.
The evening was further enlivened by inspiring remarks, entertainment and fellowship, providing an opportunity for advocates and stakeholders to reflect on the achievements of the week while renewing their collective commitment to the cause of justice.
As Legal Awareness Week 2026 came to a close, the Gala Dinner served as both a celebration of achievement and a reaffirmation of the legal profession’s responsibility to remain accessible, responsive and firmly rooted in the communities it serves.
The Law Society of Kenya extends its sincere appreciation to the Chief Guest, awardees, Council Members, Branch Chairpersons, NLAS, partners, sponsors, advocates and all stakeholders whose participation and support contributed to the success of Legal Awareness Week 2026.
Together, we continue to bridge the gap between people and justice.

Well in Joshua.
Last night, I was honoured to be recognised by the @LawSocietyofKe as First Runner-Up in the category of Significant Contribution to the Rule of Law and Constitutionalism, coming in after veteran Advocate Kibe Mungai.
Grateful for the recognition. The work continues!

@CJMarthaKoome has established a new division in the High Court, the International Crimes and Organised Crimes Division 🕺🏿
Now all we ask is that the division be presided over by judges who know a thing or two about int’l criminal law 🤞🏿

People say, “Manipulate others to get what you want.”
But Carl Jung said:

I love women who have developed a philosophy of living. You can see it in their homes, their relationships, their appearance, their schedules, their standards… Every choice seems to belong to the same woman.

If you want to be successful, you must also move with speed.
Julius Caesar. Alexander The Great. Napoleon. They all have swiftness of movement in their actions.
In fact, they were known for their rapid executions.
Hesitation is death.
Before I opened Day 2 of our Counties & Devolved Government CPD, SC Elisha Ongoya told us about Aluru, the proud bird that won't walk on dewy grass. Talk of standards.
His lesson: Nairobi is for setting traps, not for living. Set them, check occasionally, then go home and enjoy life.
Class, ARE YOU WITH US?
Carpe Diem!

The man behind the knowledge of Kenya’s Gen Z.
He used to give us 12 books, a pen and a rubber. He also used to force chiefs to go house to house checking for any child not in school.
Man behind free education.

Imposter syndrome is when you find yourself on a list of 100 people that includes your idols, like Sir David Attenborough and Mia Mottley. And, also, the King, the Pope, the UN Secretary-General, princes, billionaires and mayors... and you're just a guy from Eastlands Nairobi 🥹
