When Putin seized Crimea, both Europe and America were quite openly making calls, holding meetings, and sending signals to the Ukrainians who were in power at the time that there should be no escalation – let's just keep things friendly and leave things as they are for now. And we lost Crimea. After that, we lost part of Donbas. But the shooting in the east continued. There was no peace. People think we were always helped. That is not true. Help started coming after the full-scale invasion, but that was after eight years of Russia occupying our territory. That is a long time to figure things out and understand that Putin has no intention of giving anything back to us. At one point, some Europeans asked me: “Why do you think that if you withdraw from Donbas, he will go further?” And I answered: “Because at the beginning of the war, he wasn't seizing Donbas. He came to the capital. He seized parts of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, Kherson itself, and Kharkiv region.” We have retaken a lot of territory, but he had seized different parts of our country. And now they want us to give them something because they are unable to seize it. We may have a smaller territory, less money, and fewer weapons, but we still have more dignity than many others. We will do everything we can to end this war, but it must end in a way that preserves our dignity. From an interview with ZDF. (2/3)

I'm less impressed by how @ossoff speaks (though he's terrific at that too) and more impressed by what he says. This 2-minute clip is the best explanation of Trump corruption that I've ever heard. His explanation of the Russian dirty deals is so accurate and so clear. He knows the facts cold. And he explains them better than I can.
He has that Obama elocution.

In Kyiv, a 73yo woman suffered cardiac arrest on the 15th floor of an apartment building. The elevator wasn't working bc of a power outage. Paramedics climbed 15 floors on foot, carrying heavy resuscitation equipment. They fought to save her life for 20min. Her heart started beating again! Rescue workers then helped carry her downstairs. Ordinary people doing miracles. Source: Medvisnyk_ua threads.

The blue tsunami that swept across the US, with Democrats seizing control of both Congress and the Senate, sent shockwaves through Russia, where the 80-year-old president is affectionately called “our Trump” and “Trumpushka.” My latest for @thedailybeast: thedailybeast.com/putins-pal…

🇺🇸 BEING AN ASSHOLE DIDN'T HELP... One of the most satisfying surprises of the American elections was the defeat of Vivek Ramaswamy, the former presidential candidate, billionaire, Trump ally, and one of the most repulsive figures in the MAGA movement. He lost Ohio's gubernatorial election to 60-year-old Amy Acton, a physician and former director of the state's Department of Health. And this happened in Ohio, where Trump had won three consecutive presidential elections and where Democrats had not won a gubernatorial election since 2006. Acton became the first woman elected governor of the state, despite more than $100 million spent by her opponents on the campaign. Ramaswamy is well known to Ukrainians. He promised to completely end American military assistance to Ukraine, hand over a significant part of Donbas to Russia, permanently close Ukraine's path to NATO, and lift sanctions against the Kremlin. All of this in exchange for Putin's promise to abandon military cooperation with China. He insisted that Ukraine was not a democracy, spread accusations of Nazism, and claimed that American support for Ukraine was only pushing Russia into China's arms. Ramaswamy hoped to negotiate a new world order with Putin, effectively offering Ukrainian territory as payment for the deal. But Ramaswamy's moral character was revealed most clearly during his own election campaign. Amy Acton survived sexual abuse by her stepfather during childhood. Her mother stayed with the man, while Amy herself experienced homelessness as a child. And then Ramaswamy tracked down his opponent's mother, with whom Acton had reportedly had no contact for nearly half a century, and filmed a campaign advertisement in which the mother called her daughter a liar and urged voters not to support her. The advertisement provoked outrage even among Republicans, but Ramaswamy continued defending it. Trump and Vance also sided with him. In the end, Amy Acton won, and Ramaswamy conceded defeat. A woman who survived childhood abuse, poverty, and homelessness defeated a billionaire who tried to weaponize one of the most painful chapters of her life against her. And now, for the first time in twenty years, Ohio will have a Democratic governor. mykhailorohoza.substack.com

Zelensky said the Melania Trump-coordinated Oleshky operation proved fighting stops immediately when Putin wants it to. The same dynamic applies to returning Ukrainian prisoners of war and abducted children, the president added. Video: Volodymyr Zelensky

We’ve just had a humanitarian operation in Oleshky, which we coordinated together with the First Lady of the United States. And this operation proved something very simple – when Putin wants the fighting to stop, it stops. There was real silence. No attacks. And we saved lives. And the same goes for our people held in Russian captivity. When Putin wants, they come home. And the same goes for our children kidnapped by Russia. Putin in 2026: Russia has never threatened anyone. Russian propagandist Solovyev in 2022: "If you think we're going to stop at Ukraine, think 300 times. Ukraine is merely an intermediate stage in ensuring the strategic security of Russia."
Putin: Russia has never threatened anyone and seeks cooperation. I won't even bother to comment on this lying.

Russia's food crisis is getting worse as the combination of Putin's ruble print-fest and corporate bankruptcies makes basics like chicken meat unaffordable for regular Russians. A matronly Russian woman is driven to an expletive ridden tirade against the government, as meat prices hit record.
Putin's increasingly belligerent program of issuing trillions of rubles out of thin air is now creating problems for his slaves as they await being shipped off to Ukraine, with Russians pouring onto social media complaining that they can no longer afford to purchase meat. Chicken prices are now higher than in the United States, but with median Russian salary only 18% that of the US.

🤷‍♂️ - Bill Clinton forced Ukraine to give up its nuclear weapons. - George W. Bush insisted on Ukraine's disarmament and opposed Ukraine's accession to NATO. - Barack Obama, as a senator, visited Ukraine to oversee the decommissioning of Ukrainian weapons stockpiles. - Barack Obama refused to provide Ukraine with substantial military assistance or impose serious punishment on Russia when it first invaded Ukraine in 2014. - Joe Biden delayed military support in 2022 and withheld certain weapons deliveries when Ukraine was making significant gains on the battlefield. - And finally, Donald Trump stabbed Ukraine in the back, completely cutting off support, lifting sanctions, making cowardly concessions to Putin, and facilitating financial deals worth billions of dollars that benefited Russia and its war effort. The United States bears part of the responsibility for the suffering of the Ukrainian people. At this rate, what will the next American president do? Simply bomb Kyiv? AMERICA OWES UKRAINE. Your comment highlights a difference (at least as I see it) in culture between Ukraine and Russia. I often saw videos of Russian citizens begging Putin to solve some issue they have. In Ukraine, when people need something from a politician, they don't beg. They demand.

‼️ One huge mistake Russian propaganda made in pushing the narrative about the conflict in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka is that they forgot one thing: Ukrainians don't kneel when they're demanding something!!! Kneeling is something Russians do when they're begging their authorities for something. Ukrainians simply don't kneel before their own authorities or before occupiers. They kneel only before God and when saying farewell to the fallen. Otherwise, it was a brilliant performance. Jokes aside, her performance was freaking funny as hell — and perfectly suited to Russian propaganda. 😂
Please listen to Budanov before jumping to conclusions about what happened at a house in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, where National Guard of Ukraine soldiers were being held. Also, please read the posts below. 🔽
