Last night I went on a fun side quest with Opus while I was cooking dinner: a set of sci-fi-themed dynamic wallpapers for Mac and Android. The graphics are Python-generated, a hardware-accelerated HEIC encoder in Swift packs them, and an APK swaps them for you on Android 🧑‍🚀

It's happening again: On 15 Oct (Thursday in ~2.5 weeks), we're meeting up in Berlin (Schankhalle Pfefferberg) for the 10th time 🇩🇪 luma.com/jnetmoz2 Come and meet other founders, builders, developers & designers (it doesn't matter really). We'll talk about how our business are going, latest experiments, and - of course - the latest developments in AI: • Jev brought a whole bunch of innovation (Cey built a EU-hosted alternative for model routing in 2 days - super cool). • Opus 5.5 is... fast. It's an incredible model. So we're excited about how you integrate the new tools into your workflows and AI apps. Some members print money. Others struggle to make their $$$ go up and to the right. Bring anyone you'd like. Building in tech? Living your inner creative? Everyone's welcome here and since that's not always the case with startup events: there's no need to impress anyone here. Come as you are and have fun! See you then. :) luma.com/jnetmoz2

We're back for internet friends berlin! 🚨 9th edition! Over the past year we've gathered an amazing group of builders & entrepreneurs who live in Berlin. If you fit into that group, come join us this Thursday at KERB Berlin for a casual chat about topics like: is Astra AGI?

Since many AI doom scenarios sound like science fiction, let me ask this: Could the SkyNet take-over in Terminator have happened if SkyNet had been open source?

... software library coded in the style of gerald sussman and bjarne startstroup, optimized for readability, LGTFM, ship it, passes all tests, no errors, stateless, trending on artstation

I agree with @devongovett and I would add that this is doubly true for infrastructure software. The VC treadmill promotes new features and flashy announcements over stability, reliability and long-term compatibility.
Replying to @devongovett
It is my strong belief that VC-backed OSS creates perverse incentives that are fundamentally at odds with the open source ethos. It promotes competition over collaboration, lock-in over flexibility, marketing over innovation, and eventually, monetization.
Probably nothing, and definitely not an experiment for a node-based theme editor for @CompositiveHQ

Couldn't agree more 💯 That's exactly how we're building it in compositive.io
Before building dark mode for your component library, build "dark context." Even in light mode, setting a dark background on a container should flip the foreground elements. This forces you to decouple the concept of contrast from the idea that your app has two design modes.

Working on an article about the INTL APIs and taking quite some pleasure in the fact that Dutch formatting will happily change "98765.43" to "$99K" as narrow formatting but German formatting does not shorter than "98.765 €". Culture, encoded in APIs.
