Kenny Eptein's fight with Frank Sinatra in 1970 over betting limits at @CaesarsPalace ended in a gun being pulled.
El Cortez owner Kenny Epstein was the pit boss in the baccarat section at @CaesarsPalace in 1970 when Frank Sinatra fought the casino over betting limits.
Frank Sinatra was given a $8K limit at a $4K table just for him. Sinatra wanted a higher limit than $8K but Kenny Epstein insisted that $8K was the highest he could allow, which was double the maximum limit for everyone else.
Frank Sinatra threatened to stop performing at Caesars Palace and eventually talked to Caesars vice president Sanford Waterman about the table limit which ended with Waterman pulling a gun on Sinatra.
Sanford Waterman was later booked on assault with a deadly weapon (.38 caliber pistol) and released on bail. Charges were dropped in part because Sinatra would not give a statement.
Sinatra would continue to perform at Caesars Palace for many years but Kenny Epstein was told by executives to take a week off to let things cool down.
El Cortez turned 85 years old today. Owner Kenny Epstein (now also 85 years old) talking about El Co three years ago.

El Cortez opened on November 7, 1941 and is the only Las Vegas casino on the National Register of Historic Places. Moulin Rouge site is also on the list.
To get on the list, except for rare exceptions, you gotta be 50 years old and the exterior of the building has to remain the same. El Co made the list in 2013.
The teal signage was added in 1952. A tower was added later but the exterior of the original hotel casino building has not changed since 1952.
The layout of the original 47 rooms has not changed, no walls have been changed.
Fremont Street Experience casinos have all changed in appearance because of the Viva Vision screen and most Strip casinos are not 50 years old but have also changed too much. None of the original Flamingo buildings from 1946/1947 remain, the last building was removed in 1993.
Oldest Strip casinos with the original name:
1946 @FlamingoVegas (rooms added in 1947)
1952 @SAHARALasVegas (change to SLS briefly)
1966 @CaesarsPalace
1968 @CircusVegas (rooms added in 1972)
Two locations on the Strip are on the National Register of Historic Places, the "Welcome" sign and the Little Church of the West, which is the oldest (1942) building on the Strip, but the chapel location has changed locations 3 times (Last Frontier, Hacienda, current location across from @MandalayBay).
@ElCortezLV is 85 years and El Cortez owner Kenny Epstein is also 85 years old.
