The only bright spot is that today an absolutely vile, back-stabbing CISO at a PE firm I used to work at is having a bad day.
Fuck that guy.
Anybody that has any website ;)
If your company website was built on WordPress, read this today.
Two critical flaws in PHP, the software behind roughly three quarters of websites, were patched this morning. Attackers can run code on an unpatched web server without logging in. Several European governments pulled sites offline as a precaution, and there are reports of exploitation already starting.
Most oil and gas company sites are small WordPress sites on shared hosting, which is exactly where patching tends to lag.
The one thing to do today: ask whoever hosts or manages your website to confirm PHP has been updated (8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 or 8.2.35, or a backported fix for older versions).
Updating WordPress itself does not fix this. The server's PHP has to be updated.
If you don't know who hosts your site, find out today. Share this with anyone in oil and gas who has a website.
I don’t think people understand how bad this is.
Ask your friends in the cyber industry how much today sucked.
Let’s be honest: large companies REALLY should also sponsor a Walmart-type store. You could offer credit for larger purchases and necessities.
How come no one is doing this?
Cash heavy businesses can EASILY retain talent for 10-20 years by assisting employees buy a home.
Example:
Business puts up 100-200k in cash for down payment.
Employee rents from the business for 10-15 years.
After a ‘vesting’ period, equity moves over to employee.
Feel like this is a major hack for retention.
Similar to stock except people are far more invested in their home than most other things.

Raised the question, so I checked. : How much life insurance were the Eagles carrying on Hurts with themselves as the beneficiaries? 2026 must be similar.
“It’s not like they want to bring California with them.”
This is absolutely what people who aren’t being invaded say.
My friend moved to South Carolina 2 years ago and told me the funniest thing today
They call people that moved from the East Coast or the West Coast “immigrants” or “transplants” and constantly refer to them as “invaders”
They especially hate Californians, which I find ironic because why do you think those people left California? It’s not like they want to bring California with them. They left California to get out of California.
Some friends of theirs sold one house here in California retired to South Carolina bought four houses cash. They live in one house and the other three help pay for all of their living expenses and assist in their retirement.
The most amazing thing happened once they moved out of California to South Carolina. They met other Californians. A lot of them.
They now have a huge friend group in South Carolina made up of mostly people from California, Boston, Massachusetts, New York, Florida and Pennsylvania
Still having trouble finding and making friends with people from South Carolina but they’re making progress
Would you ever move out of your home state for somewhere with lower property prices?
People say shit like this because they absolutely depend on civilians not knowing the rules.
You can literally just ask the government for records and they’ll give them to you.
Will they redact classified and personal private information (your social security number)?
Yes for sure.
We hope.
Usually.

I'm tired of their weak threats. They say they're going to come get me, but don't. I say show up, and get your head blown off. I'll live stream that shit.
They fucking with an Iraq veteran who willingly went back to Iraq and spent most of her 20s there. Bad idea!
I’m thankful people like this, and I, are allowed to post on X.
