Robin McAlpine, apparently against his better judgment, finds himself describing the lives of Scots in colonial terms - resource extraction, economic backwardness, population loss and the lost cultural confidence he acknowledges, but exhorts Scots to pluck out of thin air. Independence - and he is not joking, he tells us - has to made about parking places. Robin's contempt for the past - what brought us to the dismal downtrodden, underdeveloped point he readily identifies - is what traps him, and keeps him thrashing aound for a gimmick to galvanize Scots into taking their affairs into their own hands; a parking place, a pothole repair. An 'independence thermometer', even. Professor Baird explains that we need to understand our condition in order to escape it. Postcolonial theory tells us this, just as any psychologist would. It is essential we put a name to it, and that name is colonialism. Doing so demands answers: where did it come from, what was its purpose, does it explains who and what we are? Here, with the asking of these questions, is Robin's sought-after confidence - the secret sauce he identifies as the producer of independence votes. Withouth understanding this, that confidence, and the votes with it, will continue to elude us. Keen to highlight the difference between the nations of the world that have escaped British colonialism and a Scotland still in its grip, here it is in essence: those nations understood their colonial condition, unobscured by adjacence, shared white skin and an imperialism holding out the offer of a subaltern role in its international ambition. So, what about the United Nations, where Robin says Liberation Scotland is wasting its time? Will international opinion on Scotland as a candidate for recovery of usurped sovereignty have no bearing on the cultural confidence of our people? Will the UK government dismiss peer state judgment pointing to a problem of fundamental constitutional legitimacy? Might it not make a democratic event on Scotland's recovery of sovereignty a slam-dunk for a welcome back into the family of nation states? When it happens, will Scots still be weighing it up against the difficulty of finding a parking space? Robin's immersion in policy and party political strategy may be obscuring a far bigger picture altogether than the simplistic one he is presenting: the overarching picture of a nation recovering from a long colonial past. Liberation Scotland would welcome Robin's further reflection on this conversation. We would welcome all of Scotland's. youtu.be/9n9WgfDKuEM?is=eaFP…

Islamophobic attacks on Dr Abdul El-Sayed from the right-wing media in the wake of America's election results come from journalists desperately trying to change the narrative from Trump and the Republicans' humiliating defeat, says our Digital Editor Laura Pollock

The behemoth of centrist-right Labour under Blair, Starmer and now Andy Burnham is not going down without a fight, albeit a very dirty one. Their despicable and desperate attacks against the Greens, and against @ZackPolanski in particular, manufacture the false impression that the radical left is some fringe base at odds with the majority of the public. This is their big mistake. Look at what just happened in the US midterms. Hope not only materialised in voters' choices: core issues like the Iran war, the genocide in Gaza, foreign powers dictating and decapitating US sovereignty, plus everyday costs of living skyrocketing, galvanised the electorate like never before. Trump himself admits the Iran war "largely" triggered his defeat. The consequences? Former Republicans switched to voting Democrat. The centrist-right faction of the Democrats is gloating at its win, but be warned: something similar happened in the UK when the Tories imploded under Sunak, handing Keir Starmer an easy victory. Look how that turned out. Different rosette, same party. Labour then brought in Andy Burnham to put a plaster over the public's frustration with Starmer, but this is quickly revealing itself to be yet another pantomime performance.

FACTS MATTER Ms Peggie was proved beyond all doubt to be a RACIST BIGOTED BULLY Six key points the media missed in the full Sandie Peggie 'discrimination' ruling thenational.scot/news/266955…
SANDIE PEGGIE IS APPEALING The Darlington Nursing Union welcomes the news that its member Sandie Peggie is appealing her case against the Royal College of Nursing. Throughout this ordeal, Sandie has demonstrated an enormous amount of courage and determination. It takes immense strength to stand up, challenge decisions and continue fighting for what you believe is right, particularly when the battle involves an organisation that should have been there to represent you. No healthcare professional should ever be abandoned by the very union they have paid to protect them. That is precisely why the Darlington Nursing Union was established: to ensure that healthcare professionals, who believe in biological reality, have a voice, receive proper representation and are never left feeling that they have to fight alone. Trade union membership should mean having someone in your corner when it matters most. It should mean support, solidarity and representation – not having to question whether your union will stand beside you when things get difficult. Sandie, as you continue your fight, please know that we stand with you. Your case and courage has shown why alternative options for union representation on these issues is urgently needed. Join us #StandWithSandie #DarlingtonNursingUnion #DNU #Nursing #HealthcareProfessionals

Stargate - the half a trillion dollar investment in AI and data centres has been exposed as what it was - a lie to hype up the AI market to pull in investment. There never was any money. We're deep into Theranos territory now. Expect the same outcome.
So after a little under a year and a half of people telling me that Stargate was a “$500bn project backed by the US government” it comes out that it “maybe never really existed,” just like I always said

The story in Paraguay is insane. The Epstein class took over the banking and political systems and used PUBLIC MONEY to enrich themselves. This is what’s happening EVERYWHERE. That’s why it’s being ignored. It’s all part of the plan.
UPDATE: 🇵🇾 PARAGUAY’S PRESIDENT RESIGNS IN DISGRACE AFTER “FRAUD OF THE CENTURY” (FYI, similar conditions exist in our countries…) Paraguay’s President, Santiago Peña, has been forced to resign in DISGRACE, after shocking details of his MANY connections to what’s being described as the "biggest FRAUD of the century” came to light. 1. Peña was a business partner of the conglomerate that owns Ueno Bank, the largest digital bank in Paraguay, until 2025… 2. Peña personally accepted two “highly irregular private loans” directly from Ueno Bank during his tenure. 3. Peña used his presidential platform to shield the bank from inspectors, aggressively dismissing financial warnings as "fear-mongering" to keep public money flowing into the fraudulent bank. 4. Shortly after becoming president, he appointed Ueno’s former chief executive to run the country’s central bank… Think about that. The person overseeing the bank previously ran the bank… The fox was literally guarding the henhouse (we have the same situation in the west..) And guess who is on the hook to bail them all out? The taxpayer… AND THATS NOT ALL 1. Under Peña, Ueno Bank started as a niche digital app and suddenly became the government's preferred bank. Funneling MASSIVE State Wealth into his friends pockets. 2. This included LOOTING PENSIONS by forcing ~$380M of workers' health and pension funds into Ueno. 3. While the government was pumping public money into Uneo, executives were quietly shoveling it out in the form of MASSIVE UNCOLLATERALISED “INSIDER LOANS” The taxes, life savings and pensions of citizens were used as a personal slush fund, with no assets left behind to cover the bad debts. By the time it collapsed, 25% of all the bank's deposits consisted of public funds…. Opposition lawmakers are FURIOUS, 8 bank executives have been arrested. 27 other bank officials and business associates face severe criminal charges. Don’t forget, this could happen ANYWHERE. Our banking and market systems are corrupt and stressed. My advice? Save in physical gold and silver.

🚌 For people across Angus South, getting to work, college or hospital in Dundee means bus fares that soon add up. 📢 That’s why I’ll keep pressing my @theSNP colleagues to make Tayside next in line for the £2 fare cap. ✅ Cheaper fares will mean more money in people’s pockets.
