The new select committee has begun its work to determine how we can improve the operations of the Bureau of Elections and the State Board of Canvassers after 700,000+ voices were silenced who wanted ONLY CITIZENS voting in Michigan elections. The new committee is taking a deep dive into what is wrong with Michigan's elections and ballot certification processes. @wtpd215
🗳️Michigan's election system is broken. Dozens of cases of election fraud, voter rolls we can't rely on, and a Secretary of State working harder to cover up suspicion than investigate why your vote is being canceled out by noncitizens voting. 📜A petition to make sure only citizens can vote came before the Bureau of Elections and Board of Canvassers with 200k more signatures than required to make the ballot, and it was tossed out on party lines. Americans deserve better than this. Michigan can do better than this. Our select committee will get to the bottom of why this happened to the Michigan Citizens Only Voting petition, and House Republicans will continue to hold Democrats' feet to the fire with Michigan's SAVE America Act, which has the support of 80% of people.

"We have 700,000 people in this state that have really been denied a voice." Select committee Chair Mike Harris, who spent his career as a detective in law enforcement, is on the job diving into how 700,000+ voices could be silenced under the Bureau of Elections and the State Board of Canvassers' current system, which just resulted in the Michigan Citizens Only Voting petition getting denied after 200k+ more signatures were turned in than were required. @wtpd215

Making life more affordable means going after the highest costs families pay every year. In Michigan, that means doing something about auto insurance. That's why the House Insurance Committee is working on a plan to expand affordable options for Michiganders. We're putting your priorities FIRST. @wtpd215
📉LOWERING AUTO INSURANCE🚗 Michigan has the highest minimum cost for auto insurance injury in the country. House Republicans are working on a plan to lower some of the highest costs Michiganders pay every year by: ✅Allowing insurers to offer more options and lower rates ✅Extending opt-out choices to ALL drivers ✅Keeping lower options in place automatically instead of making drivers reselect them every year ✅Giving drivers in Michigan the same options drivers have in other states

Interesting venue dynamics today: Dem nominee for governor Jocelyn Benson launched her “Heroes for Benson” coalition at a Warren Fraternal Order of Police building. But the MI FOP endorsed her opponent, Republican John James, and his sign was outside.

Michigan citizens have the right to petition their government, and they deserve confidence that the process is being handled fairly. Our committee is working to get answers about what happened and ensure the people of Michigan are heard.

We don't need tax hikes on working families or raiding the rainy day fund to make this budget balanced. We just need to keep hammering away at the waste, fraud, and abuse the Lansing insiders love to protect.

"Beliefs about bodies are learned and culturally specific, therefore it's totally fine to allow teenage boys to strip naked in the girls' locker room while girls are changing."
.@repmikeharris: “I don't think it's appropriate to place biological boys & girls in the same room to strip down naked next to each other.” 🤯 Response: “Trans women are women. I don’t see a problem with that.”

TODAY: We are taking up our SCHOOL SAFETY PLAN built on advice from parents, educators, mental health professionals, law enforcement officers, and other experts. The plan improves emergency reponses and safety drills, establishes emergency and safety staff, ensures that confidential OK2SAY tips are reported to law enforcement in a timely manner, and more. Michigan parents deserve the peace of mind that their kids are safe at school. @wtpd215

When OFW claims to speak for workers, legislators must question why no workers show up for its events. We will take the voices of thousands of Michigan workers over a hand full of paid out-of-state political operatives! Onward to 2025. We will get this done! #SaveMITips
