it’s gonna play at their wedding i just know
sth about kang yohan & choi jeongyo dousing themselves in the stench of the rich for their revenges, camouflaging their true natures & humble backgrounds while battling the self-repulsion that comes with mingling in utter degeneracy & pretending to enjoy it is so 🤌😋

AND THE WAY HIS MOTHER GOES IN THERE AND IS ONLY WORRIED ABOUT HIS HANDS LIKE WOMAN YOUR SON IS DYING
one artistic choice i RLLY appreciate being used in fhts is: danse macabre consistently haunting the entire narrative. its in the intro, engraved in the characters, a pied pipers tune that immediately causes the ears to perk up bcs ALL of us have been conditioned to respond to it
it was the FIRST song that connected them as children. then in teens, again, it was significant bcs that was where they RECONNECTED & found their common understanding of music. later, it becomes a haunting presence to pio. the same song that REUNITES him w jeongyo in czech.

‼️ which is why his Luca Domenico persona wasn't only about demanding accountability for what has been done to him but to achieve the same level of success (and more) as the people who had brought about his ruin so he can watch from above as the house of cards collapsed. I would

also a class difference, an integral part of Wuthering Heights too. like Heathcliff, Jeongyo's response to his trauma caused by the upper class is to climb to their level. to not just find his seat at the table but make them consider him for the seat at the head of the table.

They're so funny, sami 😭😭😭😭😭 2 episodes in and I'm laughing my ass off because of Yohan 😭😭😭😭
& when u think abt it, THIS is truly when kang pio hit rock bottom. empty eyes, bleeding fingers, just a void of BROKEN soul. after jeongyo cut him off & threw it in his face that he'd never match the geniuses born w a talent. no matter how much he tries, he'll always be a loser.
i like that four hands, two sonatas is so much bigger than a singular genre. it gave us romance of the century but theres sth to take from it for everyone. commentary on classism, human behaviors, capitalism, psychology, art vs money, socialism & hierarchy, hardwork vs talent.

By popular demand, a very haphazard train of thought about class divisions and how they define the relationships in four hands two sonatas

I love this analysis! I think its also particularly about wanting *pio* to catch him in the lie. Luca’s internal conflict is so fascinating. There’s still that desire in him for pio to see the truth of him & embrace that. He keeps offering up truths abt himself amidst the lies

If he were willing to give up on himself completely, he could feign amnesia for a long time, and from that position, his revenge would be flawless. But he makes mistakes, as if part of him wants to be caught in this lie.
& i think the writer was SO SMART for giving him this route to healing bcs hes a character who has sought validation ALL his life. just from very limited ppl which narrowed his perspective of his own influence on others. when he gets that from commonfolk, it drives PURPOSE.
