Nothing says you read the article and are arguing in good faith, more than misidentifying the source material (a podcast/video) as an article.

“Роrn isn’t empowering” Are you slow. You’ve never noticed how many actresses can finally afford orthodontic healthcare?

Because in the episode, we clearly report that this is the perspective of multiple swimmers at UK, who swam for Coach Lars Jorgensen — a name pretty much nobody ever talks about — and with Riley. People are acting like this story is about my takes, or me. It's not. At all

It is incredibly telling that Clay Travis, Megyn Kelly, and Riley Gaines herself cannot engage with the content of your reporting

“It is important to remind ourselves that this shit worked… I just remember the effectiveness, the normalization of this whole conversation." -- @PabloTorre in this really important episode that exposes the opportunistic grifting by Gaines via escalating bigotry and transphobia.
We interviewed several former teammates of Riley Gaines on the University of Kentucky swim team.
And when it comes to Riley’s messaging around trans athletes as “predatory men” and “sexual assault,” there is an important story they want you to know.

On January 13, the Supreme Court will hear arguments in challenges to state laws targeting transgender girls in sports. This from @pablofindsout is a great explainer on why the right-wing legal movement hopes this issue helps them push trans people out of public life altogether

Hi Riley,
Just wanted to follow up on the list of fact-checking questions we sent you — which included the comments from your former teammates about you and head coach Lars Jorgensen.
In the meantime, re: the below 2016 tweet, I was talking about Brett Favre.
Thanks,
Pablo

Riley Gaines got $25K for one speech — and we found a $100K donation from the DeVos family, for her "job" giving medals to student-athletes "harmed by zealots of transgender ideology."
"This avatar for the MAGA Republican effort… happens to be funded by billionaire NBA owners."

Choosing a side because it’s overwhelmingly popular — particularly after you’ve vetted it and know it’s wrong — is actual cowardice. Even if it’s bad politics.
Journalism, relatedly, isn’t politics

This is a 90/10 issue and you’re on the 10 side. Just stop. This is embarrassing

‘You know, it’s hard for me to care about Riley Gaines tying for fifth when my swim coach is accused of raping my teammates.'
Fuck.
This article is required reading for anyone who thinks Riley Gaines actually cares about women's rights.

She tweeted once, and that tweet is — once again — already in the episode I keep posting. She never spoke aloud about it. Or answered questions anywhere we could find. Which is kind of the point

It’s kind of beautiful to watch them all resemble the exact problem the episode is about

It's very obvious the people who are trying to gotcha Pablo didn't listen. This isn't even about "letting men compete in women's sports". It's a completely different story

Best media piece I’ve consumed all year. While I personally disagree(d) with Gaines’ stance on transgender athletes in sports, her take was a common take on a very nuanced and layered subject. There was once a human, compassionate element to her words. Talk to 10 different people at your local gas station and you’ll get 10 different answers, some more concise, others lengthy.
This was probably the first podcast I’ve ever listened to (dead serious)… absolutely incredible job capturing the timeline and development of that raw, seemingly more authentic reaction from Gaines into a political business model. It shows the distortion that occurred at each stage… And how Gaines really trimmed all the fat (nuance) to make a national political career out of this.
It’s disheartening to see the issue of predation from authority figures in women’s sports not receive nearly the same amount of attention. There are so many brave women in sports and speaking up, whatever their views may be. I love how you seek out those stories on the ground level… going where the money is not, just as you do the other way. Those perspectives in particular are so incredibly valuable because they aren’t distorted by money, nor fame, nor attention… That’s where the authenticity is greatest… Just simply a yearning to share what they believe to be the truth.
This is the best form of journalism, to me. It’s so incredibly refreshing, and it feels like a breath of fresh air… especially in this day and age of social media (and media in general) where every post or piece is tailored to fit some business or political purpose… very little is genuine.
Thank you, Pablo.

I have a daughter. I’m a lot more concerned about the male coaches who get banned for life from swimming because of multiple rape accusations

Thank you for illustrating my point about how we ignore credible sexual assault allegations against men (coaches, doctors) in female locker rooms by panicking about completely fake allegations against trans people
Replying to @PabloTorre
What the fuck does one have to do with the other? Since her coach did horrible things, it’s ok to put the women in unfair and other potentially dangerous situations?
