Being right years ahead of others isn’t nearly as satisfying as people think. Nobody apologizes for treating you like a crazy. They just come back years later, repeating what you told them as if it’s some groundbreaking revelation because they finally heard it from someone else.

The insanity of JD Vance using pseudo-intellectual babble about the loss is hilarious.
Corruption. Sexual predation. Epstein. Trump kids and donors raiding taxpayer coffers. Iran. Trump stock trading and manipulating the market. Farmers. North Korea love letters. Putin’s lapdog. Traitorous deals. Healthcare, Ukraine…
Trump is a sociopathic shit for brains, felon and predator. That’s the bottom line.

A deep dive into Republican media and social media over the last 24 hours reveals that 0.001% of them acknowledge that the naked and blatant public corruption of Trump, his family members, cronies, pardoned fraudsters, and donors had anything to do with the midterm results.

sf tech has made contempt for progressives a kind of intellectual status symbol. for a culture so proud of cOnTrArIaN thinking, it’s remarkable how reliably it produces MAGA slop bros and self-described centrists who keep moving the political center right while congratulating themselves on their moderation.
last night’s elections were a hopeful reminder that the political imagination of silicon valley is considerably narrower than the country’s

What is the point of a politician — let alone a literal vice president — who says he understood all of this and yet did absolutely nothing about it
One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up.
So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us."
Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026.
There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true.
But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone.
Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were:
1) End the war
2) Focus on cost of living/inflation
3) Put America First
4) Change our relationship to Israel
Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.)
In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you.
The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night.
If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest.
But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there.
I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.

Pre-midterm it’s worth reminding people.
Musk will be treated like a politician because he chose to become one. It’s the thing he talks about the most, spends the most time on, spends most of his personal money on. And he literally was the head of a very unpopular and failed agency.
All choices he made as he lost his mind over the past 6 years. Hes a political figure first and foremost, by his own choice. And a very unpopular one, who was a part of the most lawless admin in U.S. history. He wanted this and now he’s got it.
He’ll be fine if he didn’t commit crimes though. But yeah, of course he’ll be subpoenaed, asked to testify a lot etc. that’s part of being one of the most powerful politicians in the nation! Duh!

crypto had some of its most legendary runs under Democratic admins with extremely hostile SEC and other regulatory actors
so i don't presume this is "bad for crypto" (especially since Dems are likely to spend, spend, spend)
but what the space must do very quickly is separate and discard the Trump family grifts from being the first thing people think about when it comes to crypto
people on here lean hard right, so they may not realize how much modern crypto today has been associated with "Trump crypto scams" among the public
the Trump scams are ofc only a very tiny fraction of crypto
it's time to refocus the narrative on everything else

BREAKING: Israel says it was blindsided and caught off guard by Trump's announcement ending all US military aid to Israel, and denied knowing about it, per Kan News.
"We did not expect this announcement, certainly not today," a senior Israeli official said.
Israel's security establishment assesses that "Trump misspoke," as the current agreement runs to 2028.
Trump said hours earlier that he and Netanyahu had already agreed the US would stop paying $4 billion by the end of 2026.

My favorite type of person is the “I’m a giant pussy and I left my home bc I didn’t like the politics.”
You know how many rednecks I’ve had to physically fight? Do you know how little I fear fkn conservatives? I moved to fkn Waco bc it’s fkn cheap.
Do you kniw how little I respect a MAN who had to run away from - checks noted - west coast leftist. Son, you’re softer than baby shit. You might wanna start packing. You gon have a bitch of a time with Texas Democrats who been fightin these people our entire lives. Goddamn…, you couldn’t get me to admit I ran like a bitch if you waterboarded my ass.
Sry you got bitch in your blood. Can’t relate - but here’s a pro tip. Next time you relocate, make sure that Dem turnout isn’t second only to California. Make sure that it you don’t move to the youngest, most diverse state in the country.
It ain’t our fault that you’re not only soft, but stupid to boot.
AI’s strength is to push the legal liability onto the agent rather than the individual prompting it.
Bro, you can't fucking say openly on social media you just attempted to compromise an organizations infrastructure under your employer and full legal name
Are you actually fucking insane?? Genuinely what the fuck are you thinking???
And how the fuck does this dude know the employees name? Why did the employee openly admit "hehe ye thats me, but no mallace intended, it was my AI agent"
