The “reason”? Improper building permits.
The real reason: because they can.

New Today: @WellBeforeHQ just opened pre-sales on a new mask in earloop (KN95) and headstrap (FFP2) options, black or white.
It's main strength is breathability. It would perform somewhere between the 3rd and 4th bars from the right in Mr. Hughes' graph, according to their own testing.
It runs about $3 on pre-order, and perhaps $4 longer term, and looks to have above average reusability, especially the FFP2 option.
I would buy some for myself (I don't accept free samples), except that it's size small/medium only.
This could be a great option for someone who finds a 3M Aura to be a great or slightly large fit and is interested in doing exercise classes, or deals with asthma, dyspnea, COPD, lung cancer, or other ongoing respiratory issues.
I recently ran a 5K in a Moldex, and it had minimal impact on my time and breathability. I've heard from people who saw my Moldex video, tried them, and are finding it very helpful too.

I am stunned at the breathability test results for this Moldex Airwave N95.
I've been testing various masks to see how breathable they are using a testing machine, and the Airwave was so breathable I had to run the test again with another sample just to make sure the test results were real. It is massively more breathable than other good quality N95s I've tested.

Lower pressure drop scores mean it takes less suction to draw air through the mask. So lower scores are better.

One of today's most shocking developments was the closure of the Rafah Crossing, halting the entry of humanitarian aid, cooking gas, and commercial goods into Gaza, as well as the exit of patients seeking medical treatment abroad.
The reason is reportedly an attempt to smuggle a small quantity of cigarettes into Gaza, where tobacco products have been banned for more than three years.
But why should an entire population be punished for this? What do millions of civilians have to do with it? Why should patients, children, and families pay the price?
With all the advanced technology available to detect prohibited goods, why shut everything down and deprive people of basic necessities?
Gaza is already facing severe shortages of food, fuel, and medicine. This closure will only make things worse,

The school was equipped with bomb shelter classrooms, and when there were no classes, it could shelter people receiving humanitarian aid. But the Russians targeted it with multiple aerial bombs. And they did so in a double tap to target first responders too. This is terrorism
The words can't describe this horror. 18 people were killed and five others injured in russian airstrikes on Komyshuvakha, Zaporizhzhia region.
The strike targeted the school where humanitarian aid was being distributed to local residents.
After the initial attack, russian forces dropped nine more aerial bombs, including particularly on a shelter where people were taking refuge.
Rescue operations and the search for missing people are ongoing.

Researchers at the Netherlands’ RIVM analyzed 678,482 COVID-19 transmission pairs and found that vaccination reduced both the risk of infection and the likelihood of infecting others.
Most transmission occurred between people who were not fully vaccinated.

UPDATE: They found human remains at Organ Pipe, in the dirt Trump's wall contractors tore up.
ProPublica reports a park service archaeologist found Native American remains near the base of a saguaro that was still standing. On Sept. 8. Nobody was told until now.
A University of Arizona curator says the remains appear to be cremated, from about 1,500 years ago.
Lorraine Eiler, an 89-year-old Hia-Ced O'odham elder, warned them in August. "People used to live here." "They're going to find remains wherever they dig."
Tohono O'odham Chairman Verlon Jose says discoveries like this are "a wound to the heart."

Trump's second border wall is going up through Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, and they're ripping out sacred saguaros to build it. 🌵
This video from Russ McSpadden of the Center for Biological Diversity shows saguaros on the ground next to the bollards for the new wall. It shows thousands of saguaros have been removed, along with ocotillo and all kinds of other plants and vegetation.
The Tohono O'odham call the saguaro ha:şañ. In their custom, saguaros are considered people. Removing one isn't just destroying a plant, it's considered an act of violence against a person.
These creatures grow about an inch in their first eight years. They don't flower until 35. They don't grow an arm for 50 to 70 years. They live 150 years or more.
And they provide homes for other critters. Gila woodpeckers carve nests into saguaros, and elf owls, kestrels and purple martins move in after.
And "just transplant them" doesn't always work. An NPS official told federal auditors that as many as half didn't survive the move. In 2020, thousands were removed for the first 30-foot wall. Some were transplanted. Most didn't survive. Now the survivors are being torn out again. McSpadden: "The few that did survive are being transplanted again, so exponentially less chance of survival for those saguaros."
And thousands more are slated to be ripped out of the Tohono O'odham Nation's own land. The Nation says Border Patrol told them it's happening. Chairman Verlon Jose: "Trespassing on our land to remove the sacred saguaros is like having masked men break into your house and take away your children."
So the Nation went to court to stop it, including an emergency request to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. A federal judge has refused to block the wall and the removal of the saguaros.
Removing a saguaro without a permit is illegal in Arizona. But last November, DHS waived legal requirements there to speed up wall construction.
