On the #Dubai #Floods: Heavy precipitation (HP) generally becomes more frequent & intense with increasing global warming. The @IPCC_CH #AR6, shows that this is also the case in the Arabian Peninsula: There is medium confidence in an HP intensification at 1.5°C of global warming.

Kansas normally produces about 25% of winter wheat in the U.S. winter wheat crop, but that may not happen this year due to prolonged drought. This U.S. Drought Monitor map shows drought intensity as of June 20, 2023, with 79% of Kansas in a drought. go.nasa.gov/3r3ro6h

A comment about how interconnection between research, policy and society can be enhanced by modelling tools. This will support a better alignment between these three pillars of human progress and enhance the chance of mitigation to climate change. nature.com/articles/s43016-0…

Remarkable heatwave across Mexico & Texas. Temps 110+. Heat Index 120+. This map shows the upper level ridge “Heat Dome”. Maxes out at 4.5 sigma. This means in a normal “historical” climate it’s basically impossible. But climate change makes the impossible, probable.
