Ethiopian officials claim the country's population is 136m, despite the Ethiopian Statistical agency projecting about 112m. They aim to exploit this higher number to maximize donor funding and food aid. @WFP @UNEthiopia @UNOCHA @Knowledge_iii @DRovera @EIshmael_ @SheiknorQassim
Absolutely. This proves that there is no government in Ethiopia; instead, the country is ruled by bandits from one tribe. Using state power, forces and resources to advance tribal expansionism will not work in the twenty-first century. @AbdimalekFarah @dervishconan @AbdiAbdinur @AhmedAbdiIsse1 @ManderaBlogger @DirreOnline
It's only in Ethiopia where:
1. Two states police & their local armed militia fight militarily for nearly 2 wks, and the federal government doesn't intervene despite hundreds of fatalities!
2. A politically correct state militia is armed with APCs & federal commandos and latest weapons in a blatant support to one side
3. One state demands another state's official flag shall not be flown in it's own districts because the nation's bully leader is from that state's ethnic community.
4. One state claims that another state's districts and towns are their ancestral lands and proceeds to enforce their demands militarily in utter disregard for the Constitution. Sounds familiar? Like the Zionists biblical claims over Palestine!
5. States are named after ethnic majorities who live in it, in an increasingly Addis-abused ethnic federalism
It's everyone for himself and God for us all!

While regional capacity-building initiatives - such as IGAD's BWERSP (Building Women's Economic Resistance for Sustainable Peace) project - aim to empower women as peacebuilders, the reality on the ground presents a starkly different picture.
1. Internal Conflicts and Displacement in Ethiopia
⭕ Somali Region: On-going state-sponsored war on Moyale and Hudet districts, more than 150,000 people have been displaced from their homes - over 80% of whom are women and children.
⭕ Tigray and Amhara Regions: women continue to bear the heaviest burden of state-sponsored and armed conflicts, suffering from widespread of sex violence used as a weapon of war, systemic displacement, and severe human rights abuses.
⭕ Oromo Region: Non-Oromos – specially Amhara Christians – in the region are regularly targeted and massacred by the state forces and armed groups from Oromo ethnic.
⭕ Protracted Displacement: Millions of people, the majority of whom are women and children, remain in prolonged displacement crises with limited support. One example is Qoloji in Fafan zone (Somali region) which is home to more than 200,000 people. They fled the massacres and valance in the East and West Hararghe zones of Oromo region in 2017. Nearly nine years later, these families remain in the camp, facing prolonged displacement and uncertainty about their future. West Sitti is another example, where more 200,000 survivors of Garba Isse massacre in 2021 continue to live in a similar dire condition, facing prolonged displacement and hardship.
2. Regional Proxy Wars and Escalation
⭕ Destabilization in the Horn of Africa: The Ethiopian government has been accused foreign mercenaries and supports armed militias to destabilize neighbouring countries, including Eritrea, Somalia, and Sudan.
⭕ Cross-Border Tensions: Actions such as drone attacks in Sudan, severe diplomatic and territorial rifts with Somalia, and escalating military tensions with Eritrea, raising raise real fears and threats of broader regional conflict.
3. Conclusions
⭕ Training women in negotiation and leadership is essential for sustainable peace, but without social protection, good governance and accountability, these projects cannot address the urgent safety and survival needs of women in conflict zones.
⭕ IGAD and AU must take a decisive stance by urging tell the Ethiopian leadership to stop and end state-sponsored wars, tribal expansion, and displace of women and other vulnerable groups across Ethiopia and the broader region. @IGADsecretariat @_AfricanUnion @GCR2P @UN_SPExperts @kenyaaxis @Survival @GlobalJusticeUK @CAGEintl @NeaminZeleke @amggebre @AbdimalekFarah @faisalroble19 @BillowKerrow @EIshmael_ @AbdiAbdinur @Hassa23851483 @Salim8Said @dervishconan @Guntigaab @foziaaosman @awduula @AhmedAbdiIsse1 @awale_saad @DSultantv26 @SpotonSomalia @DSultantv26 @HalimaAIGutale @AhmedSolHoA @EliasAmare @Gafdiid7 @ManderaBlogger @DirreOnline @mpNadiryusuf @Iyyesa
🕊️ Empowering Women to Lead and Build Sustainable Peace
IGAD, through the Building Women’s Economic Resilience for Sustainable Peace (BWERSP) Project, is equipping women leaders with practical skills in conflict prevention, mediation, negotiation and peace-building.

The Borama Incident: Separating Facts from Propaganda and Demanding Accountability
1. On 29 October 2026, social media reported attacks targeting Oromos in Borama, with images and videos showing houses on fire. The incident was reportedly linked to the on-going war on the Moyale and Hudet woredas (districts) in the Ethiopia's Somali region, involving heavily armed forces from Ethiopia's Oromo region.
2. On the same day, some groups from Somali and Oromo communities exploited the incident for propaganda purposes, spreading disinformation and unverified claims before community elders and local authorities issued their statement on the incident.
3. On 30 October 2026, the Awdal Security Committee and Borama Administration issued a statement saying that no one had been killed or injured, and the damage was limited to homes that they [Oromos] had left or moved out of. They apologized, describing such actions as contrary to the culture and values of the people of Borama.
4. On 30 October 2026, @MPDrAbib shared a video on X, stating that "I cannot demand justice for our people while remaining silent when innocent Oromo neighbours face the burning of their homes and looting of their belongings in Borama.". However, he provided no figures on the number of homes burned or people (number of Oromos) affected. Furthermore, the video reportedly showed internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Somalia, not refugees, raising questions about its accuracy, context, and relevance to the claims being made. IDPs and refugees are distinct categories. Oromo who have fled to Somalia, Kenya, Djibouti, or any other country are refugees, not internally displaced persons (IDPs), as they have crossed an international border.
5. Three days after the incident, these groups had yet to provide creditable evidence supporting their claims or challenging the statement issues by the Awdal Security Committee and Borama Administration.
6. Taking these facts into consideration, there are concerns that these groups and those behind the attacks may be exploiting ethnic tensions for political and economic gain, potentially operating from outside Awdal region of Somalia, to create ethnic conflict between Somali and Oromo communities, destabilize the wider Horn of Africa, and turn ethnic divisions into a source of profit.
Therefore, independent and transparent investigations and accountability for attacks targeting ethnic communities and civilians in Moyale and Hudet (Somali region, Ethiopia), Arsi/Bale and Wellega (Oromo region, Ethiopia), and Awdal (Somalia) are urgently needed. I am not attacking Oromo nationalism. Even if they have to secede from the rest of Ethiopia, it is their choice. I, however, fear that a new energetic nationalism, this time the Oromo as a case in point, could stray, if not managed well, and cause havoc. This phenomenon of new and extreme nationalism as a debilitating social movement is not unique to the Oromo. Somalis have seen how a poorly managed nationalism can come back and destroy you. Learn from your neighbors as opposed to engaging in a diatribe.
Moreover, it was not only the Somalis who fought the old system. The Oromo also did. In their fight against Haile Selassie and Mengistu, the Oromo were hosted by Somalia. At least, Somalis own their history in the era of Ahmed Gurey, Sayyid Mohammed Abdule Hassan, the SYL, and, yes, the war of liberation of 1977. But that history does not preclude for Somalis to seek an all inclusive solution to Ethiopia’s problems. You also need to own your history but look for a positive and peaceful future.
I am at a loss where you place Waqow Gutu who fought the Ethiopian state beginning 1963 and ending his fight at the collapse of the Somali state. For your information, Waqow Gutu was hosted, given a villa by Siad Barre, and received a generous stipends. Commentary changes, but history is catalogued and preserved. Both Oromo and Somalis fought the old system for the right reasons. To run away from it is a serious weakness and a character issue. Somalis have had their share of conflicts with Ethiopia; but now they are also seeking a way to live peacefully with their neighbors, primarily with the Oromo.
The Irony of Faisal Roble’s Attack on Oromo Nationalism: A History of Somali Expansionism bakkalchaoromia.com/2026/10/…
This is true "The real threat is one ethnic group taking power at the center and trying to push ethnic interests as national interest. A clear case is Oromo expansionists now trying to use the same language Hailesellassie, Mengistu, and Meles Zenawi used against Somalis to occupy their land, and enslave them."
⭕️ The danger of Ethiopia's governance crisis is indeed the capture of national institutions by narrow ethnic or political interests. History has shown the consequences of allowing those who control the state to define their own interests as the interest of the country (the entire nations). Somalis have legitimate historical grievances centring territorial expansion and control, political and social marginalization, and state violence over the past 70 years (since Britain handed over the region to Ethiopia).
⭕️ Since 2018, Ethiopia's Oromo political elites are exploiting state institutions to advance ethnic agendas, enabling violence and ethnic cleansing against Muslims (Somalis) Christians (Amharas), and other communities. By placing tribal interests above the rule of law and national unity, they risk fuelling ethnic and religious conflicts in Ethiopia and beyond.
⭕️ Ethiopia does not need a change of ethnic masters. It needs a genuinely accountable, inclusive political order in which no ethnic group owns the state, no community's land is treated as a political prize, and no population is forced to surrender its identity, rights or dignity in the name of national unity.
⭕️ Jawar is OPDO/EPRDF puppet who becomes Ethiopian after 2018. Prior to 2018, he used to say "I am Oromo, not Ethiopian. Ethiopia occupies Oromo people and land." Can a society led by politicians with such divisive attitude truly promote peace and coexistence in Ethiopia and across the Horn of Africa?

Somalis as scapegoats
@Jawar_Mohammed is diverting attention from the real threat to Ethiopia’s unity.
For as long as modern Ethiopia existed, starting from the era of Emperor Menelik, one fatal birth defect it lived with is the fact that whichever ethnic group holds power in Addis Ababa behaves like the custodian of Ethiopian-ness and the protector of its unity. The Amharas did it when they were in power; the Tigrayans did it when they were in power; so there is nothing surprising that the Oromos are now turning out to be “the Better Ethiopians”. It is their turn, in this cruel political culture of pretensions and imperialist dreams.
There is also nothing surprising that the Somalis are now reminded of Siyad Barre and Greater Somalia irredentism. It's strange that Jawar and other ethnocentric Oromo leadership now blame Somalis, the victims of the recent aggression in Moyale.
The real threat is one ethnic group taking power at the center and trying to push ethnic interests as national interest. A clear case is Oromo expansionists now trying to use the same language Hailesellassie, Mengistu, and Meles Zenawi used against Somalis to occupy their land, and enslave them. Haileselasie in 60s accused Somalis of pursuing greater Somalis, a pretext to deny them rights & take their land. Zenawi added outrageous claims that Somali region was accommodating AlShabab to further their aims. Then came Abiy Ahmed's team that now make preposterous assertion that Somalis moved into Moyale in late 1990s as refugees and are expansionists.
Communities in Ethiopia have always sought to achieve equitable rights, including the right to secession. Somalis fought since 1994 through ONLF to secede. Although the 1994 Constitution allowed secession through referendum, this right was not granted. Eritrea fought for secession from 1962 through ELF and was nonetheless granted secession in 1993. Oromos have pursued the goal of secession through OLF for 50 years. In recent years, the Tigrayans and Ahmara have similarly challenged the country's pan-Ethiopian centralism because the shoe is now on the other foot!
Somalis are the third largest ethnic group but the political representation they have is incomparable to other ethnic groups with lesser population, such as Sidama or Gurage, but Jawar glosses over this marginalization. No, Mr Jawar, it is their right to get fair political representation, and not a favour.
Their improved political and security situation cannot be used to dispossess them of their land, nor can they be returned to the slavery they endured under successive Ethiopian regimes. Development of their region in recent years isn't a special gift but a right that spans the whole country. It is mischievous for Jawar to single out the Somali region for his baseless assertions.

Mesmerized by the numbers of his ethnicity Abiy believes he is the next Emperor & should wield absolute Power in Ethiopia. Unfortunately at this rate he is doomed & will watch over the dissolution of Ethiopia as we know it today.
JaWar what you don’t understand and will never understand is the bravery of the Tigrayan people. The bravery of the Amhara people. This is obvious but Abiy Ahmed and the crazy Oromuma elites will never ever conquer the North!

The Wounded Pride: A Reversal of Fortune
Two photographs, two different moments in Ethiopia’s military history.
The first shows Major General Yohannes Woldegiorgis (John Medid) beside a captured ENDF colonel during the 2020–2022 Tigray war, when he was celebrated as a war hero. The second shows the same general, once a symbol of military victory, after reportedly surrendering to the ENDF on 26 October 2026.
I once used the expression “wounded-pride generals” in a media discussion to describe some of the military leaders commanding the ENDF. I was referring to officers who had previously been captured by the TPLF during the armed struggle against the Derg, and how those experiences were subsequently used for political propaganda, humiliation and psychological warfare. Looking at these two photographs brings that discussion back to mind.
But beyond the reversal of military fortunes lies a much more painful reality. Ethiopia's civil wars and successive armed conflicts have cost countless young lives. Generations have been sacrificed, families devastated, communities displaced, and the country's future undermined by cycles of violence.
The generals may rise as heroes one day and surrender another. The roles of captor and captive may reverse, but what remains unchanged is the enormous price the Ethiopian people continue to pay.
The real tragedy is not who captures whom, but how many more lives Ethiopia must lose, how many families must suffer, and how much of the country's future must be sacrificed before this cycle of war ends.

These forces and groups are using Ethiopian army vehicles, uniforms, weapons, communication, and basis as well.
2. The objective behind this operations "Geda Operation" is to drive non-Oromos communities from Moyale Ethiopia and then use Moyale as strategic gateway to destabilize Kenya and to control Lamu port.
3. Such developments raise questions about state authority and accountability. If state sources, army equipment, and security personnel are being used to support these operations, the federal government of Ethiopia (if it can indeed be considered a functioning government) must clarify its role, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure the protection of civilians.
4. Such circumstances indicate a serious failure of governance or possible complicity by state institutions in the country.
5. Based on these developments, there are serious concerns that those behind the on-going attacks on Moyale and Hudet will not stop at the Ethiopia's border, but may extend their activities beyond Ethiopia's borders, fuelling ethnic conflicts and broader regional instability. Therefore, neighbouring countries (Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Eritrea, and Djibouti) should remain vigilant, safeguard national unity and safety of their populations, and take coordinated preventive actions before the situation escalates into a wider regional crisis.

The use of state forces and diplomatic missions to advance tribal expansionism and territorial domination will not succeed in the 21st century. Lasting peace can only achieved through peaceful coexistence, dialogue, and recognition of the rights and dignity of all communities. The path for state-building is not tribal domination or aggression, but good governance, understanding, justice, and reconciliation.
The expansion ideology expressed by some individuals (TPLF orphans) who claim "We control Ethiopia, we have the guns, and it is now or never for expansion" poses a serious for peace, stability, and security in the Horn of Africa. MOYALE:- THE INEDIBLE FRUIT.
The Moyale issue is a wake-up call to all Somalis irrespective of clan, or ountry. When ABIY Ahmed's regime cancelled the special 40-40-20 power sharing arrangement of DireDawa Administration in a dramatic Move in a shame "conference" to rubber-stamp the Oromo sinister ambitions whom he is serving as a flag bearer with little or no opposition to the proposal, it was clear that huge areas of the Somali regional State could be targeted by his goon's in Oromia regional State as "theirs". That pessimism has materialized but now in the wrong choice.
Moyale is an inedible fruit for ABIY Ahmed's OROMMUMA crowd. Moyale is and has been a Somali territory since it's inception. However, after the ethnic federalism was promulgated in Ethiopia the then EPRDF administration following a claim raised by Oromos, decided ton a political arrangement that could settle the armed conflict in the area.
Five years ago, ABADULA GEMEDA, former Oromia president, in an interview with OMN confessed the Somali ownership of the town, to which "boranas leaved in the sorrounding countryside" he added.
However, the Somalis agreed to the halve-halve arrangement where the Eastern half was administered by Somali and western half by the borana.
Albeit, all that compromise, BORANA claim to the renewed after Abiy Ahmed came to power. They say the"moment you settle for less than you deserve, you will get even less than you settled for". The borana prodded up by ABIY Ahmed laid a claim to the entire town. Somalis said no and never. That culminated to the recent attacks by Oromos militias attacking not only the town, but the entire Dawa zone of Somali regional state. Their claim was upgraded from Moyale town to the entire zone. Six days of fighting ensued, but the Oromos yet have to capture an inch of Somali territory. Then came the cease fire, "a lasting solution" rhetoric. The dice is cast, but rest assured that Moyale shall never be the next Diredawa. Hard lessons had been learnt.
Such expansionism Manuevres has no place in today's politics. Theft and forceful annexation of Somali territory must stop with an immediate effect.
The rhetoric of "keeping what's in your hand and claiming the rest" can only put fuel into the fire.
When the existing so called "Federal government" is not willing to discharge it's responsibility honestly and with equality it's imperative upon every man to defend his family and property. That is a blessed act and is hailed high in every moral ground.
If "disgruntled activist turned politician" doesn't want to go with the existing administrative arrangements when he clearly knows that he had the advantages in the initial arrangement, is not contented with "one part of the small town divided by the Asphalt", he has absolutely no rights to stir the peaceful coexistence of the people under the false pretext of "hoisted flag".
You knew that the "other halve" of the small town had it's own flag to hoist, but unfortunately, you want your flag hoisted and try to refuse the hoisting of the other. That isn't rational.
The question must be, Who are you to deny the hoisting of that other flag, when you are using yours?
RESPECT IS TWO WAY TRAFFIC. You respect me and I will do the same. But when you feel that "some animals are more equal than other" and try to achieve some sinister ambitions with goals and means that compromise the rule of law, governmental responsibility, and political arrangements, by FORMENTING Chaotic false flag unrest, tie the hands of security agencies that could have stopped the Carnage and eventually use STATE POWER to grab "the second part of the small town, partitioned by the tarmac road" as a war booty for your clan, then you should know that you have relinquished national responsibilities for clan interests.
In such a case, your legal, and morall integrity to continue as A NATIONAL GOVERNMENT COLLAPSES!!
