I spent the past few weeks investigating bombardments of residential buildings & extrajudicial executions by #Russia’s forces north of #Kyiv in #Ukraine. Prima facile evidence of #WarCrimes .

For much of the past century, policymakers have treated the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula as separate strategic regions divided by the Red Sea. That distinction is now evaporating. @alanboswell explains why. foreignaffairs.com/middle-ea…

Outrage mounts that United Arab Emirates diplomat Lana Nusseibeh thinks she could be UN secretary-general despite having served as a lead apologist for the UAE's military support for the genocidal Rapid Support Forces paramilitary in Sudan. trib.al/BiQAEJN

We were nearly killed two days ago.
Settler-terrorist Tomer Liani bashed my head against the ground repeatedly, then the IDF and police blocked the ambulances and prevented hospitalisation.
All because we caught the settlers locking locking a gate to more than 20 Palestinian communities, trapping entire families.
We exposed Tomer Liani, Shimon Atia and Nevo Nadalski directly committing crimes against humanity in Masafer Yatta, and we were punished by the Israeli police and court for this.
Israeli state terrorism in the West Bank is at its peak, and the authorities are doing everything to keep Palestinian voices silent.

Israeli police arrested overnight into Thursday social media influencer Andrey Khrzhanovskiy, known online as Andrey X, and American freelance journalist Jasper Nathaniel after they were assaulted and detained at gunpoint by Israeli settlers near the Carmel settlement in the West Bank's South Hebron Hills.

United Arab Emirates diplomat Lana Nusseibeh doesn't mention her continued coverup (as illustrated by her recent UN appearance) of the UAE role sending arms and mercenaries to the genocidal Rapid Support Forces in Sudan. She shouldn't be secretary-general. xitter.gq/Lana_Nusseibeh/status/…
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to set out my vision for the United Nations and engage directly with Member States and civil society.
The discussion reinforced something I believe deeply: progress does not require our differences to disappear. It requires us to work through them.
That is the approach I would bring to the office of Secretary-General: relentless diplomacy, the stubborn optimism to believe agreement is possible, and a determination to turn that agreement into results for the people the UN exists to serve.

Former United Arab Emirates diplomat Lana Nusseibeh STILL won't admit the UAE sent arms and mercenaries to the genocidal Rapid Support Forces in Sudan. She says she wants to end the war but won't admit that her government is fueling it. She should NEVER be UN secretary general.

Israel’s operation in Hebron has forced over 2,000 Palestinians from their homes. Collective punishment is a grave violation of international law, and threats to empty and erase entire neighbourhoods raise serious concerns about ethnic cleansing.

Sudan asks Lana Nusseibeh: Would you back an independent investigation of your country supplying weapons in Sudan's civil war & its mass rapes?
Doesn't answer but reiterates a commitment to Art 100 of UN Charter & that she has left UAE foreign ministry. Says to refer Qs to them
[no acknowledgment of UAE's documented role in the war & resulting humanitarian crisis]

A voter was interviewed on Israeli news, along with two first-time voters, about what led them to choose who to vote for. One of them said that his main issue was that "I don't want there to be Arabs here in the country." The reporter nodded enthusiastically. Say hello to the next generation of Israeli voter.

Daniel Levy | Former Israeli Peace Negotiator | US/Middle East Project (@USMEP):
Netanyahu did not alone commit genocide for 3 years. He did not alone maintain decades of illegal occupation. It was system-wide.
Eisenkot was part of it & served in the military. He sat in the emergency unity security cabinet after Oct. 7 - during the genocide.
Israeli generals, soldiers & judges - all part of a system-wide mobilization. Dissenting voices existed but remained marginal.

At Nusseibeh's town hall @yonahdiamond asks a *very* pointed question about the UAE's complicity in Sudan
She answers that she no longer works for the UAE gov, so those questions should be directed there. She stresses that ending the Sudan war would be a top priority.

On this Israeli election day, I’d recommend reading this extraordinary @haaretzcom interview with billionaire Ronald Lauder, president of the World Jewish Congress and once one of Benjamin Netanyahu’s closest confidants.
One of Lauder’s most striking conclusions: “I realized at the end of the day that Israel really didn't want peace, but they wanted dominance.”
This is coming from someone who helped launch Netanyahu’s political career, introduced him to powerful figures in American politics and media, and secretly negotiated with Hafez al-Assad and Rafik Hariri on his behalf in the late 1990s.
In one of the interview’s biggest revelations, Lauder says Netanyahu agreed to a comprehensive peace deal with Syria and Lebanon, including withdrawal from the Golan Heights, but ultimately refused to sign it for political reasons.
“He chose politics over peace. He put his political future before the deal.”
Now 82, Lauder describes his profound disillusionment with Israel’s direction. After decades of supporting Israeli and Jewish institutions, he has sold his Tel Aviv apartment, given away his Be’er Sheva property, and says he has no intention of returning to Israel.
He warns that Netanyahu’s dependence on figures like Ben-Gvir and Smotrich is damaging Israel, alienating diaspora Jews and eroding support in Washington.
The interview is also full of fascinating details about Lauder’s role in Netanyahu’s political rise. The two became close friends in the 1980s, when Netanyahu was Israel’s ambassador to the UN, speaking almost daily at times.
Lauder says he introduced Netanyahu to speech coach Lilyan Wilder to improve his public speaking and, crucially, to Republican strategist Arthur Finkelstein, who would become instrumental in Netanyahu’s electoral success.
When Netanyahu left New York to pursue a political career in Israel, Lauder threw him a farewell party attended by some of the most influential figures in American media and politics, including Rupert Murdoch and the head of the New York Times.
Lauder recalls opening doors for Netanyahu and helping him cultivate the relationships that would underpin his rise to power.
What makes this interview so revealing is that Lauder is no longtime critic of Israel. He had been a committed Zionist, a Republican power broker, and a man who spent decades financing Jewish institutions, cultivating relationships with Arab leaders, and pursuing diplomatic openings on Israel’s behalf.
A fascinating read 👇
