🚨GWO thoughts/analysis after the 1st set of World Championship Finals 👏🏼🔥
- 65kg: There’s nothing left to question or doubt about Bo Bassett. He’s the best in the world. Similar to Masa Ono he won both U20 & seniors at age 20. Going forward he will be the man to beat in any tournament he enters - whether it’s Southeast Hokie Open, NCAAs, or the Olympics.
- 97kg: Kyle Snyder somehow just keeps getting better 😳 Everytime his performance dips, he fixes his weaknesses and comes back improved. He has now won 2 straight world titles, but more impressively - he’s beaten Sadulaev 2 times in a row. Their next bout is a must win for Sadulaev.
- 86kg: just a BRUTAL outcome for the 22 year old Kadiev. Loses 6-3 to Dake after dominating him 11-4 last time. Dake also lost to Dzhioev last time, but it’s hard to pick against him.
61kg: Blazes loss to Javan was controversial, but his low volume attacking style might always put him in those razor thin matches against elite opponents.
125kg: Wyatt looked great, he just ran into a young goat in Zare! I expect Wyatt to win bronze tomorrow.
70kg: I expect Retherford to also win bronze.

Quillan with 7 points in 5 games with Abby. Plays a strong, responsible 2-way game. Hard-working C with some size, there's a chance he grows into a player #Canucks fans will like. Now gets a chance to face and prove his former team wrong for trading him.
As for Chytil...😬

My next fight is one of the last in my career.
They say Prates is too dangerous for me and Morales is too good for me.
So I want to face the best of them and prove to the world once again who is the best in world.

From TSN broadcaster and colleague Gord Miller, who has worked countless international hockey events in his career, on today's CAS ruling:
``The decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to overturn the IIHF’s ban on the participation of Russian and Belarussian teams immediately throws the world of international hockey into complete chaos. Some key issues:
-can the IIHF appeal? It’s possible it could go to the Supreme Court of Switzerland , but it’s unlikely the court would overturn a CAS decision, as CAS is considered the “final word” in matters of sport. The IIHF council is meeting Monday to discuss next steps.
-will governments grant visas to Russian teams to compete? The Russian Ice Hockey Federation is part of the Russian government, the Canadian government said earlier this year it would not permit Russian national teams to enter the country, unlike individual Russian athletes.
-will some federations refuse to host events at which Russian teams are present? There are serious security concerns about the safety of participants and spectators, nations refusing to host is a real possibility.
-will there be a boycott? The initial feeling is that individual national federations won’t, but what their national governments do is another matter. Anti-Russian sentiment in Europe is strong.
-how much will the IIHF push back? Russia (with the help of former president Rene Fasel) worked hard behind the scenes at the recent congress to engineer the election of pro-Russian candidates to the IIHF council. Blaming this decision on CAS would allow those members to quietly get what they want.
Finally, this is a devastating decision for Ukraine in countless ways, not the least of which is that their men’s national team earned promotion to the top division of the upcoming Men’s World Championship as the second place finisher in Division 1A last season. If Russia is back in, that pushes Ukraine out, which is an ethical, political and PR nightmare for the IIHF.”
