Six months ago, I left the NHS after over 20 years—a leap guided by vision, and fuelled by equal parts excitement and fear. Today, after completing four inspiring days of NVR training with an incredible Birmingham-based organisation, @BhamPathfinder I’m filled with gratitude.

Happy 115th Birthday to Birmingham's The Electric Cinema! Opened on this day in 1909, here's a special birthday message from another Brum icon... Prof Carl Chinn MBE. An alternative Brum King's speech. @Glenbrookprop might want to demolish The Electric but Brummies fight back! – at Birmingham, England

It was great to meet everyone yesterday at @BhamPathfinder and hear first hand about flexible learning needs. We hear you and it will be exciting to explore how we can work further together with the aim of creating some valuable and accessible learning for your service-users 🙏
⁦@BhamPathfinder⁩ parents met with Angela and Penny from ⁦@FircroftCollege⁩ this am. They will be undertaking adult education courses as part of their development and involvement in Pathfinder Shared Authority work-across our schools and communities in South Brum. 💚

There is so much 'common sense' about the Pathfinder approach - the issue is, its not at all common (but it needs to be). So relevant to criminal justice & health services too.
We will now establish family members as Pathfinder Associates, receiving training such as psychologically informed environments; + supervision, supporting families through community + school development activities; providing community peer support. #ReimaginingChildrensServices

I am who I am. That’s someone who is autistic and has ADHD. Accepting myself slowly. Sharing as the journey for many is long, private diagnosis available only to wealthy and much trauma along the way. It’s time to talk about it.

At 5 to ask about it and being told girls don’t have it. Verbal Communication is a struggle, burnout & meltdowns are very real. Suicide rates amongst women are unacceptable & honestly because we have so much more to do. Having support has changed my life.

🧵Never really know how to feel about autism awareness. I am autistic person often struggle with the self acceptance part, living in a working class rural community it isn’t widely accepted. I was late diagnosed, despite reading before I could talk, my mam taking me to the docs

Loved hearing the passion including @CamillaKingdon & @annelongfield at the @RCPCHtweets conference. I advocated for partnerships in schools & community settings to support and prevent children suffering issues like domestic abuse & substance misuse in the home. #RCPCH24

Long story: speaking about how @WestMidsPCC & @mcneil_tom have led efforts to drive projects tackling root causes of crime/ harm. Short story: speaking about why working together is good & what counts as 'working together'. For best examples see @FDACBham_Sol & @BhamPathfinder.

Pathfinder is the gold standard - as times get tougher, we need more services like it. We were so lucky to hear from them at the #STSP24 conference today about how partners can replicate their success.
Presented Pathfinder learning at the Steps to Stronger Partnership conference today-heard about amazing regional work. Consensus re: need 4 sustained relational work, braver LA approaches +flexibility from philanthropic trusts. 💚 #STSP24 ⁦@weareROC⁩ ⁦@mcneil_tom⁩

Was great to hear from @BhamPathfinder and other early help efforts in Birmingham and across region. We must do everything we can to protect this work, especially in these difficult economic times. Cuts to these services now would cost us all so much more long term.

Glad we’ve been able to support such vital work over the years 🙏
Almost 1 in 5 children are persistently absent from school. The @ChildrensComm warns of harm to long term opportunities. It’s why projects like @BhamPathfinder providing multidisciplinary support to children & parents (eg mental health, SEND, domestic abuse) are invaluable. 1/4

Strategy isn’t strategy if nobody gets it & believes in it; it’s just a boring set of rehashed cliches, just verbiage. Worse is separate strategies to address interconnected problems reproduced in the same organisations & systems without addressing underlying culture & behaviour

Tremendous effort. Well done all. 👏👏👏
Alvechurch U9SP completed their 5-mile walk at Arrow Valley this afternoon. The team has raised a staggering £1,000 through their fundraising efforts to support local families that aren't as fortunate as us this Christmas. Well done everyone for supporting a wonderful cause. 💛
