A STRONG REMINDER TO @elonmusk AND @X
The official X account of @mybmcWardT has remained suspended since 17 October. Despite repeated appeals, there is still no visible action to restore this important civic communication channel.
We are increasingly concerned that the T Ward administration may have little urgency to get the account reactivated. Is it because civic activists regularly highlight citizens’ grievances and administrative shortcomings, and an inactive account means fewer questions to answer?
An official civic account is not a personal privilege of officials; it is a public communication facility meant to serve citizens.
We urge @elonmusk and @X to review the matter and restore the account immediately.

Political differences notwithstanding, I sincerely appreciate the action of Sardar Gurjyot Singh Keer for setting up his temporary firecracker stall within a shop in Swapna Nagari, rather than encroaching upon or occupying our precious pedestrian footpath.
Unfortunately, activists of almost every political party have, in one way or another, contributed to blocking our pedestrian footpaths, systematically depriving residents of their rightful walking space.
However, I remember our understanding when we shared a dais during his association with the Maha Vikas Aghadi. We both agreed that pedestrian footpaths should not be disturbed or encroached upon.
True to those words, Gurjyot Ji, you have demonstrated that political differences need not come in the way of respecting a common civic commitment.
Thank you, Gurjyot Ji, for setting a positive example. I sincerely appreciate it!

Almost every crowded location in Mumbai now seems to have temporary firecracker stalls permitted by the BMC. These stalls not only block pedestrian footpaths and create traffic bottlenecks but also pose serious fire and public safety hazards.
What emergency arrangements are in place if a firecracker or a rocket accidentally falls on these highly inflammable stalls? Who will be accountable in the event of an accident?
Our suggestion: Instead of permitting scattered firecracker stalls on busy roads and pedestrian footpaths, the BMC should identify and allot designated open playgrounds or suitable open spaces as temporary firecracker markets, with adequate fire-safety arrangements and emergency access.
This will ensure better crowd management, minimise fire risks, ease traffic congestion and, most importantly, keep our pedestrian footpaths free and walkable.
We are sharing photographs showing how these stalls are obstructing pedestrian footpaths.
Public safety cannot be compromised, and pedestrian rights cannot be sacrificed for temporary commercial convenience.
We urge the authorities to review this policy and take immediate corrective action.

વર્ષોથી વલસાડ બસ ડેપોથી દિવેદ-અટાર ગામ સુધી મગોદ મંદિર થઈને બસ સેવા કાર્યરત હતી. કોરોના કાળ દરમિયાન અસ્થાયી રૂપે બંધ કરાયેલી આ સેવા આજદિન સુધી પુનઃ શરૂ કરવામાં આવી નથી. સાયનામાઈ જતી બસ સેવા પણ આ જ રૂટ પરથી બંધ કરવામાં આવી હતી.
આ બસ સેવા બંધ હોવાથી આસપાસના ગામોના ગરીબ, નોકરી-ધંધા અર્થે વલસાડ આવતા નાગરિકો અને ખાસ કરીને મહિલાઓ ભારે મુશ્કેલીનો સામનો કરી રહ્યાં છે. મહિલાઓને શેરિંગ રિક્ષામાં પાટિયા પર બેસીને 6-7 કિમીની મુસાફરી કરવાની ફરજ પડે છે.
કોરોના કાળમાં અસ્થાયી રૂપે બંધ કરાયેલી જાહેર પરિવહન સેવા વર્ષો પછી પણ કેમ પુનઃ શરૂ થઈ નથી?

1984 was a crime against the Sikh community, and the Congress carries that guilt.
Dr Manmohan Singh apologised for it in Parliament in 2005. The UPA then acted on the Nanavati Commission's recommendations with a ₹714.76 crore rehabilitation package, of which more than ₹534 crore reached the states.
Compare that with the Modi government's 2014 package: ₹5 lakh promised (only for the kin of those killed), with an estimated cost of ₹166 crores. Rajnath Singh handed out 17 cheques in Tilak Vihar, and the rest were left waiting on "verification". Later, the BJP's own chairman of the National Commission for Minorities claimed that "no government can pay full compensation to all victims."
Twelve years into this government, he also conceded that none of the 944 families resettled in Tilak Vihar have ownership rights, and ₹13 crore in power dues still hangs over them.
In 2022, BJP MP Parvesh Verma told the Lok Sabha that the jobs promised to victims' children had never been delivered. The ₹5,000 pension for widows, promised in the 2025 Delhi election, is still awaited. Job letters come out in batches of 19 and 36, always handed out by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in front of cameras.
Today the BJP marches through the same neighbourhoods it has left waiting for over a decade. The farcical counter-march is an insult to the legacy of 1984. Reducing the grief of those who lost their loved ones to a political stunt trivialises one of the darkest chapters in our history.

IDBI was made profitable. By public funding.
IDBI profits are at Rs 9500 crore. Per year. Approximately. That’s huge.
Why not sell minority ownership? Why controlling shares? Why not in tranches?
So who should control the levers of negotiation for a successful bank? Obviously, the government.
But it allowed Fairfax the arrogance and audacity to write that if asked to rebid, it would walk away. The buyer gave us a cocky attitude, and had the last laugh.
The government simply folded. Not 56” at all.
And to justify a below-reserve price, a note quotes the Railway Stores Code, the rule for auctioning scrap. A bank earning ₹9,500 crore a year was sold under rules meant for railway scrap. How does that make sense?

जुना, गंजलेला फलक बदलण्यास आमचा विरोध नाही. मात्र, नवीन फलकावर फक्त “SKATING RINK” असेच नमूद असावे. स्केटिंगव्यतिरिक्त अन्य वापरासाठी ही सुविधा वळविण्याची आम्हाला भीती आहे.
१९९३ पासून HIRWA ने या उद्यानासाठी अथक प्रयत्न केले आहेत. या सुविधेचा मूळ उद्देश बदलण्याचा कोणताही प्रयत्न आम्ही ठामपणे विरोध करू.

From fighting for the rightful relocation of the Christian Cemetery reservation in 1994–95—with HIRWA and Malabar Hill Welfare Association meeting Shri Balasaheb Thackeray, who directed a joint hearing—to developing Sardar Pratap Singh Garden with multiple public amenities, HIRWA’s decades of efforts are documented.
Yet today, the specially developed SKATING RING meant for children is being occupied by an RSS shakha for lathi training! On Sunday, children wearing skating shoes stood helplessly at the corner, denied their own facility.
Is this how a PUBLIC AMENITY is to be used? BMC Commissioner must intervene immediately and restore the skating ring to CHILDREN—not organisational activities.
