Congratulations to everyone that matched, ESPECIALLY, the incredible first generation physicians and physicians of color. It’s truly a victory for everyone but it’s a greater achievement and win for the URM students. So so proud of everyone ✊🏾✊🏿

If today didn’t go as planned, please remember: You are NOT alone. Many incredible physicians have taken alternative paths to residency. Keep pushing, keep believing, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Your future patients still need you. #Match2025

Unfortunately not the news I wanted to receive this morning, but this does not end my pursuit of becoming an orthopedic surgeon. Would love any advice on research positions and how to move forward from this setback. #match2025 #orthopedics #medtwitter

Don’t buy this for a minute.
The MD shortage is manufactured by Congress. It exists because of corruption.
The number of residency training spots is capped by Congress under the Balanced Budget Act of 1997. While medical schools have increased enrollment to address physician shortages, the number of residency slots—required for graduates to become licensed physicians—has not grown proportionally due to a lack of federal funding for graduate medical education via Medicare.
This bottleneck disproportionately affects underserved areas, including inner cities and rural communities, where physician shortages are the worst.
Let’s talk about it 🧵
#1 reason for MD shortage is Med schools admitting students who aren’t going to practice. Only 60% of med students today plan on practicing clinical medicine. Med Schools need to focus on admitting students who want take care of patients, not just get their MD.

If you matched, congratulations. Now, DO NOT USE your home address and personal number for anything license/provider number related. Use your hospital’s, this will be public info. Thanks for coming to my TED talk

The entire class of 2024 really smashed it with this year's Match. Especially considering they were the 1st class to have their medical school journey's impacted by the COVID19 pandemic and STEP 1 P/F. They've been primed for resiliency since day 1! The success is well deserved.
