Why should you read #crimsonthreads?
Each book is chocked full about what about horror. Not just scares, gore, and dreadful moments. It tackles the human condition through inhumane circumstances. Horror is where the evil and conflict of daily life becomes a tangible thing we can defeat.

This is great but it's not just color and contrast and shooting on film that explains films like Fright Night. The mid-80s was the height of the horror renaissance when filmmakers like Tom Holland @RealTomHolland leaned into classical tropes intentionally. Folks *wanted* it.
Did Horror Lose THIS After the ’80s? 🧛🎬
Why does Fright Night still feel so special? Lexi celebrates the mix of horror, humor, and coming-of-age storytelling that made ’80s movies so memorable—and questions why newer films struggle to capture that same feeling.
Could shooting on film be part of the magic? Lexi shares why she thinks the look of film adds so much to Fright Night’s charm. Is it nostalgia, the filmmaking, or a little of both?

I adore Captain Kronos – Vampire Hunter. Sword fights, Gothic atmosphere, and monsters that refuse to play by the usual rules. What's not to love?
Rémy Fétique of my Ream serial Loathsome Grace owes the good captain a debt.
Although Rémy's monsters are considerably stranger

Put soul into your books. Not trends. Not algorithms. Soul. The part of you that’s honest. The part that’s difficult to put into words. Readers can tell when a story comes from somewhere real. Anyone can write a book. Few write something that stays with someone for a lifetime.
Your #writing word of the day:
YONDER
How are you going to use it?
Death was not the necromancers great fear for there were methods to cheat death and have the soul linger in the flesh no matter how decayed it might become until another more vital vessel might present itself . No their great fear was that another necromancer might call them up to serve and dwell in their own rot.

It has been a while but tonight I shall be recording a new Halloween special episode of Talking Indie Books!
Tonight's WIP
Christina curled her hands into Gregory’s coat as the candlelight illuminated another brambled body squatting in one corner. A tattered reverend’s collar hung from one branch along with cobwebs and dust. All of its wood was pale and long dead. Within one vaguely hand-like tangle, a tarnished cross drooped. The other clutched a thick tome to its collapsed chest.
Swallowing, she raised her hand toward the disturbing collection while loosening the scarf slightly. “No one’s here.”
“Thank goodness for that. Tend the candle, will you?” Gregory asked as he handed off the light. He took in a deep breath, held it, and then without further preamble tore the book from the bramble body’s grasp. The wood dryly popped as it fractured and produced puffs of aged grime.
“Bring the candle closer, if you would?”
After a squeak, she did just that. The meager glow revealed two smaller volumes nestled in the corpse growth’s ‘ribcage’. Gregory’s shoulder sagged. He shook his head, handed the first thick book back to her. Then he carefully worked his hands into the core, wiggling and tearing until he was able to tear them free.
“Let’s head back up,” she suggested even as she backed away to the stairs.
“Let’s.”
