First I try finesse and ingenuity. When that fails I try brute force and ignorance.

In an all time golf gear low… I ordered those spikes you screw in to normal golf shoes… Haven’t found a pair of 13 6e golf shoes yet, so we are converting a pair of new balance into golf shoes.

I'm going to write about the supply and demand issue of tee times next week. Would love your help. There is a link below to a quick survey - it will take 3 minutes. No email capture, no name. Just trying to make my newsletter a little better. And if you feel strongly about this issue - feel free to send me a DM! form.jotform.com/24176815954…

70-80 shooter Driving range – I’d still advise spending most of your time working on your mechanics. You will improve more than anything by hitting more greens & keeping the driver in play. This means 50/75% of your range work should still be ensuring you can hit the ball where you are aiming and within a decent dispersion pattern. The other 25/50% can be spent working on distance control, alignment to different targets & routine. Throw in a little bit of competitive practice & you are in a good spot. Short game – 10% of your practice time should be on hitting your stock shot, & then it’s all about hitting different shots & learning how to play out of different lies. Identifying the lie & picking the correct shot from that lie, along with knowing how the ball will react on the green can be the difference between getting up and down or not. Putting – 10% of your time should be on stroke mechanics and setup & the rest of the time should be all about speed & read. Spend a lot of time inside 6ft which will be your par savers, as well as between 8-15ft as those will be your birdie opportunities. Work on speed between 20-40ft as those will be all about avoiding 3 putts.

Was telling my wife a story about my round. I mentioned I had forgotten my ball mark… she asked why I didn’t use the button on my glove. I had to explain to her that I would never do that (also, my glove doesn’t have a button. That it was an unspoken rule.

Has anyone ever actually used the button on the glove to mark a ball? Not sure why… just feels wrong?

@JaysonNickol Thank you, my friend. You saw in person my game is better than it ever has been. Working with you has been a pleasure. Getting to shoot an even par round while you watched was a huge bonus. Great golf coach. Better friend.

I hope there was some small consolation that it was 2 students of yours beating you in match play. 😀 I look forward to you beating me next year.

@adamyounggolf ( and @practicalgolf )... Played with a gentleman named Ben from Lexington, KY. Great guy. Something like a 1.8 handicap... We are chatting during our match... he took up golf in 2020. His only instruction has been basically Adam Young stuff...

Not sure if he does Adam's programs or just read the Practice Manual... but he had a phenomenal understanding of the golf swing, and a gorgeous athletic swing... it was fun to watch. He was athletic... but man... lower cap than me and has been playing the game for 4 years.

Was very cool to see! I've always known Adam's stuff is great, but this was some real world proof at how effective it can be when used correctly.
