Driving range – I’d still advise spending most of your time working on your mechanics. You will improve more than anything by hitting more greens & keeping the driver in play. This means 50/75% of your range work should still be ensuring you can hit the ball where you are aiming and within a decent dispersion pattern. The other 25/50% can be spent working on distance control, alignment to different targets & routine. Throw in a little bit of competitive practice & you are in a good spot.
Short game – 10% of your practice time should be on hitting your stock shot, & then it’s all about hitting different shots & learning how to play out of different lies. Identifying the lie & picking the correct shot from that lie, along with knowing how the ball will react on the green can be the difference between getting up and down or not.
Putting – 10% of your time should be on stroke mechanics and setup & the rest of the time should be all about speed & read. Spend a lot of time inside 6ft which will be your par savers, as well as between 8-15ft as those will be your birdie opportunities. Work on speed between 20-40ft as those will be all about avoiding 3 putts.
