Completed a personal project this week. It is small and niche and probably only interesting to three or four people in the world, but it represents about six months of intentional AI skill building (agentic coffee wrangling) and I am quite pleased with the results. I trained a lora for a the turbo z image model entirely locally on my Macbook pro. The lora captures style of a single Jewish artist from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century when the world’s obsession with German culture was waxing. The style is Jugendstil (lit. Young style) called Art Nouveau in English (franklish?) I publish both the lora and the pipeline used to create it. Links below.

MIND BENDING FACT: Musk: 10,000 Starship launches a year from Starbase Louisiana alone. At 100+ tons per flight, that's 1,000,000 tons per year, ~350x everything humanity put in orbit in 2025 (2,877 tons). One 30-launch day there would beat all of 2025. xitter.cf/elonmusk/status/211532…
10k Starship launches/year is just from Starbase Louisiana

The Israeli election in a nutshell 👇👇👇
Forgive me, I don’t understand people who hate Netanyahu more than they hate Hamas.

Yes everyone except the Iranians
Obama on Iran: Let's think about this Iran war. The original rationale was, we're going to go in there and get them to give up their nuclear program, their nuclear weapons. Now, the thing was, Iran didn't have nuclear weapons because I had put a deal in place that everybody acknowledged kept them from getting nukes. And I didn't have to fire a missile to do it. I just had to engage in diplomacy.

Nothing could possibly go wrong here
My friends were all talking about prepping so I made a survival LLM. A free app that runs an AI mdoel plus 1.5 million offline articles (medical guides, FEMA, survival manuals, wikipedia) entirely on your computer. No internet needed. brangus.io/survival-llm

It is important to read good words written by literary genius humans... "She was withal a little of a coquette, as might be perceived even in her dress, which was a mixture of ancient and modern fashions, as most suited to set off her charms. She wore the ornaments of pure yellow gold, which her great-great-grandmother had brought over from Saardam; the tempting stomacher of the olden time, and withal a provokingly short petticoat, to display the prettiest foot and ankle in the country round."

This is a real concern that I had not thought of…

I’ve heard several OAI people say there are unfixable bugs in hardware that are exploitable by AI models directly speaking machine code so even if we could solve software that’s not enough. We need defense to move faster than offense if that’s even possible we may just have a new normal that requires adapting to insecure software (bank transfers require going into a branch and taking a dna test 🤣😬)

I hate the Anthropic 80M loss headline As most of it is just accounting It’s only really an 8M loss

I think this is a silly argument Everything that we know in science was considered too complicated until some genius described it simply More likely the universe is actually quite simple in its principles and complex in the application
If we want to continue progress in science, we must be prepared to acknowledge that the correct description of nature will eventually simply be too complicated for humans to understand. I do not think it is wise to make human understanding a requirement. AI is the way forward.

Hey @grok if you were to think about this as tax avoidance With their growth projections and expected contributions, how much money is anthropic siphoning away from the public (government) and installing in their own ngo (public benefit corp)
We’re committing a portion of Anthropic’s shares to the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a new wholly owned entity dedicated entirely to the public benefit. It will start off with 5% of our shares. For every 50% increase in the company’s value over a set baseline, we can contribute up to an extra 2%, subject to our board’s discretion. In total, this means that roughly 20% of Anthropic’s shares are committed to the public good. Our co-founders have already pledged to donate 80% of their equity, and around half our employees are donating a portion of their equity as part of a donation matching program we’ve run since our founding. In the post below, we share more details about our new fund. anthropic.com/news/public-be…

Wonder if you could do this to your printer? Hmmmmm
Vibe coded my parents' TV this afternoon! It was showing a sponsored ad before you could even get to Netflix. Gave Claude Code the model number, it found the TV on wifi, removed 25 Xiaomi packages and wrote a new launcher. Looks like an Apple TV now lol
